Saddlers in Wiltshire

Not entirely sure horse is currently happy with saddles, and want a 2nd opinion, as think he is a bit tight in his back.

Who has anyone in the area used, and can recommend??
 
The only suggestion I hcve is too go on the Society of Master Saddlers website and look for an approved fitter not retailer in your area.
 
I used the guy at Wadswick, near Corsham whose name I forget, last year . He came out, looked at horse, took saddle back, re-adjusted it. all for what i thought v reasonable price and within a week. They also have quite selection of 2nd hand saddles.

I know a Master Saddler in Wiltshire, where abouts are you?

She is currently hand making a super saddle for one of my horses!

Since I've known her I've learnt loads.

She doesnt work out of any "horsey shop" so doesnt particularly favour some makes of saddles rather than others as some saddlers tend to do!

She is very experienced and knowledgeable and will tell you as it is!

I thoroughly recomend her as do many others in this area.

Martin Andrew from horse-e-things in Fordingbridge (Hampshire) comes up into Wiltshire as well, I'm near Shaftesbury but I know he goes further. He's an SMS Master Saddle Fitter and I've been using him for just over a year and think he's very good.

I'll second that. He solved my pony's long-running saddle problems (involving pony bucking me off many times due to ill-fitting saddles supposedly fitted by a saddler). Martin came out and showed me exactly why my extra-extra-extra wide saddle didn't fit, stuck a wide fitting saddle on, showed me why that one DID fit, watched me ride to make sure it was ok... and he's nice and quiet with the horses too. I had a well-known saddler out to see my pony in her XXW saddle and he told me it fitted... and still she bucked me off until Martin came and sorted us out!
He's fab, I wouldn't use anyone else now

The bloke at Wadswick is Chris - he's very good.

I also use Maurice Emtage who travels a long way to come to our yard. Can't remember the name of the place that he comes from (could be Colne Saddlery maybe) but I'm sure if you Google him you'll find his details.

He comes complete with flocking stuff and re-flocks on the premises - brilliant service.
