I have a bit of an issue with my horse who has started barging when I put his saddle on. He has had a physio out who said he was very sore & tight under the saddle but even after a treatment he is bargy. I think now it is a mental thing with him as he does it even with a pessoa roller (which weighs nothing). I dont know how to get him out of the habit.

Also, I now need to get the saddle checked out but cannot find anyone who will recommend a saddler in the West Midlands/ Warwickshire area. We are based just outside Rugby.

Ditto Tower Farm, you are almost on the doorstep of Walsall though for the manufacturers. They all have saddle fitters now and have people willing to travel so you could go to the direct.

Try preloved for Saddle Company trained fitters, lovely company to deal with. Also Harley Equestrian, they have lots of used saddles and I think will bring a selection if you talk to Tracey there?

Tower Farm will be very near by, tho never used them myself for saddle fitting. Used to use a guy called Ray Symonds/ Symonds Saddlery who is Walsall based and came out to us in Leicestershire who is A+.

thanks for all the suggestions - have used Tower in the past but dont want to go there again. He has had chiropractor out and it seems more him than the saddle but just want to keep the options open. Will try Harley - thanks

Another vote for Aimee at Southam Saddles! And another vote against Tower Farm for saddle fitting. They fitted a Wintec to a friends Cob and it was horrific. Aimee fitted a saddle perfectly to my wonky TB

Another vote for Aimee at Southam Saddles. Aimee was great and didn't pressure me in to making a decision immediately (i was choosing from 3 saddles), let me take me time and decide what if any were right for me. Very friendly and I like the fact she comes back out after a certain amount of time to make sure all is right and nothing needs adjusting etc.
Very friendly lady and happy to help :-)

And another vote for Aimee at Southam Saddles.

She fits and checks all of our saddles and never had a problem. Really lovely person too, and she is willing to discuss different requirements, girths to use for different issues, pads etc. very thorough. Job well done.

I don't know whether they are still there because I am going back 10 years, but I used to use Watts & Watts based in the stable yard at Holdenby House, near East Haddon in Northamptonshire. Only a few miles from Rugby, and they were brilliant. Stan Watts was an ex cavalry man and an expert saddler and tack man in general. I have no idea whether they are still there as I say, but it may be worth googling them in case they moved somewhere else.

No they are not there anymore. No idea what happened to them either but they were lovely.
