no PF I gave in and paid by CC, and had the bloody £2 Postal insurance added. Optional my arse! Least it is here..They cancelled the paypal, although seeing as it let me pay originally by paypal hmm
Yes, at least you got it, but I think it's ridiculous that it only says in little letters that they don't take paypal when it appears they do, and making you pay the insurance as well!!
I've got a question about the insurance? I understand if you sell finance you can't "make" a person take the insurance (ie payment protection), this is against selling regulations. although you can disclose that it is in the payment they don't have to have it.
Therefore my question is - does this apply to the postal insurance?
Hopefully there is somebody legal out there who can answer this. Maybe even your credit card company and they might even be able to do a chargeback, because you have been charged for something that you dont want and didn't order - This could be a huge problem for the seller??????? They could possibly loose their credit card provider.
Perhaps you should ring your credit card company, along with anyone else who wants to get their £2 back?
Payment protection insurance (PPI) is offered with personal loans and credit cards to cover unemployment, death, critical illness, accident & sickness, hospitilization and carer cover. It is optional, and, if authorised and regulated by the FSA to do so advice may be given as to whether or not a customer has a need for it.
A credit card company can't do anything about this seller as it's nothing to do with them. This seller states that her insurance is compulsary with card payments and she charges for it, it's 'free' with other payments. Personally, I think it'll be her way of recouping some of the charges incurred by taking payments by card. Thing is though, what is the insurance for? A bit further up her listings is says shipping insurance is included in P&P charges. I bought something from her, paid by CHAPS (same day transfer - which I don't have to pay for) and it was sent to me via normal mail. You could argue that the value of my goods were insured as under a certain amount (£32 I think) 1st class mail covers it as standard. I was really angry as she raised an unpaid item dispute against me a week after I paid, despite me sending emails.
I don't think anyone can do anything. She does state it in the payment info, allbeit in the small print right at the bottom (along with the no paypal) thus you do know about it before you commit to buying. This is why I paid by CHAPS.
