Saddles all slip forward. Girth recommendations?

some find the prolite too bendy anyway so I think better to start with something more in the middle :) . Frank pulled it forwards so the billets still weren't straight once we'd finished and made the sides baggy.

Wow, I decided to try a dressage saddle tonight that the saddler said was too long for her (she was 3 at the time), and it looked to fit her really well. It probably is a smidge too long but she loved it. She was so much freer and forward and well behaved. I used an ordinary banana shaped synthetic girth and it stayed put in canter. She had one little buck which I think was more habit than anything, but after that she felt amazing. I will get the saddler out to look at it, obviously, but if the horse likes it, and it makes such a massive difference, it can't be that bad.

I see you've possibly sorted your problem now, but i recommend the professionals choice girth. My saddle used to go up the neck of my barrel shaped mare in canter but the pro choice sorted it. I've also tried the Stephens gel eaze pad and it's very effective if kept really clean, but my mare didn't like the feel of it.

Thanks. I may end up investing in a prolite short girth now as the banana girth I have sits a bit close to her elbows. Definitely selling my Pessoa event saddle as she obviously doesn't like it whether it 'fits' her or not. Looks like it's going to be just dressage for us for the time being. I'm hoping last night wasn't a fluke too as it was her first time with the lights and it was windy too, so she may have been preoccupied with everything looking different, although she appeared to take it all in her stride.

That's great news one of mine is in a horse knows best set up in his saddle the saddler looks at the set up with a pained expression , he likes a wintec back raiser he's been it for ages now and is better than he's ever been .
And of course they change the whole time when they get into regular work .
In a month this might all be in the past .
does she know the voice command for canter that helps sometimes you can I droduce the leg aid later just position your legs and just the voice to strike off and some prefer you starting in the two point seat and going to three and others like you starting in the three and going to two .

Thanks, yes, she knows the canter command. If she's going to buck it's always a few strides in and always the same place in the arena near the mirrors. But last night there was only one half hearted kick back and no napping and going forward so much more willingly. Might try the two point seat.

Thanks, yes she does have a forward girth groove but the problem is worse right now as she's put on weight. I need to get on top of that. I think the grass is deceptively 'good' at the moment.

My mare is exactly the same, barrel/funnel shap with forward girth groove and hardly any wither. My saddler recomended a Kentaur (sp?) Girth. We tried it but she didn't seem that keen on it as they are much wider and put pressure on in a different way. Shes been away for schooling since so may ask saddler if I can try one again. Saddler has also had good feedback about the crecent girths for this problem too.
