Saddles Direct - anyone used them?

ive just ordered 3 saddles to try from them and i have to say they have been very helpful so far. one of the saddles sent is falir - which i didnt want - and it wasnt listed as so on the website. When i phoned them this morning they were really apologetic, and have refunded the postage for that saddle and said i can keep the others as long as i need to.

yeah i'd agree with the above. i emailed them some piccies of a nice DR saddle i have for sale to sell through them and they wanted 40% of the sale price!!!! cheeky sods

to be fair though thats about the same % you are going to pay for your local saddler to sell your 2nd hand saddles and they have the advantage of anationwide service. I know for definite that my local saddler takes 30% and all they do is put a tag on and put it on display in the saddlery and then fill out a slip of paper when someone borrows them to try!

YO has used saddlesdirect to buy from and said they were very good, but also said the offers they make to buy a saddle off you is normally v low but again they need to make money somehow!

Well tbh I had no luck at all. Recently was looking for a new saddle, and they had one I would have liked to try.

I rang a few times and had no response, also left 2 messages and nobody contacted me back.

I gave up!

Bought a saddle last year, had to ring a couple of times to get an answer but did get them and the saddles they said I could keep them longer if I needed to.
Bought one of the saddles I tried and got money off the price through bartering on phone. I liked the service - I took the saddles with my horse for a lesson to see what instructor thought too which gave an independent view on the fit etc.

QR - thanks for the feedback :) I know my local saddler takes 25% and I thought that was bad enough, I think I shall be selling my existing jump saddle privately! (Albion K2 jump, 17" medium, 1 year old if anyone is interested :p)

I shall keep looking for a dressage saddle then - I want an Albion K2 dressage 17" medium if anyone has one :D

I've bought and sold through them. The 40% sounds a lot but I had a saddle I hadn't been able to shift on ebay or privately. They sold it very quickly and for more than I'd had it on sale for, so I got more than I would of, even with losing the 40%. It's hassle free selling - nationwide service and you don't have to worry about posting or finding a box big enough to post it in! They are fab people and can't do enough to help but they are very very busy, which is why they don't always answer the phone.
