Saddles & Ebay

Bought one two weeks ago, paid a goodly sum for it via paypal thankfully as seller has not sent and not replied to my emails either! Never again unless I can go and collect it myself.

Fortunately eBay not as annonymous as you think if you ask the right questions to the right people so I'll be taking some time out next week to sort the problem! Laughs evilly!!

It's very annoying when someone does that, I hope you get your money back or the saddle.

I have bought three - one was perfect and as described. had it fitted by a fitter and used it for a while before selling it on again

next one was completely inaccurately described, condition wise, so (after a VERY lengthy battle with ebay) sent it back

third one was the exact same make, model and size as one I'd tried on previously with the saddle fitter, paid a LOT of money for it & had the fitter out this morning to look at it - the b4stards who had it before had widened the tree and neglected to mention this in the listing.

Luckily saddler able to fix it but costing me £140 to do so.....

Be careful basically!!

Report them to Ebay first of all. If you paid via paypal you should be covered by the protection they offer. I believe you can chargeback your money within 60 days if goods dont turn up. Some people have such a lot of cheek. Have to say I dont buy from ebay but I do use it a lot to sell and it really jacks me off when people dont pay and ignore my emails. They always get reported to ebay and I avoid like the plague.

Hope you get either your saddle or your money back.

Yes.. I bought at 17.5 GFS English Leather saddle, had it fitted & let the saddle man take it away & work his magic.. he said it was a lovely saddle that would last me years & they don't make them like this anymore so was really chuffed.. it came back with all soft leather & lovely..

I've bought 3 saddles on ebay & they've all been fine. It's like buying anything, there are good honest sellers & there are bad sellers, fortunately I had the latter. I've also sold a couple of saddles & thet went alright as well.

Buy using Paypal & if there are any problems make a claim through Paypal & you'll get your money back, unfortunately less postage, but as a buyer you will invariably win & get a refund.

I've bought lots of saddles from ebay, you just need to do your research. I generally get the serial number and check details with the manufacturer. They should also be able to flag if its been stolen.

My latest purchase gone a bit pear shaped as bought from the usa and got knobbled for £216 vat and duty. I did know it was a risk, but I was hopeful!

I bought a pony saddle off ebay, was exactly what it said on the tin, a cheap and cheerful to get me through having posh one made for pony.
It came, it fitted but as it was a bit 'lumpy' underneath, I got my saddler to reflock it and it was full of carpet underlay and tacks!!!:)
As the saddle cost so little I didn't mind the extra cost and now have a spare 'emergency' saddle.
Remember...you get what you pay for.
Best of luck
Bryndu
