Saddles: High withers very short back??

I bought a 17.5" Thorowgood high wither for my new little TB as a stop gap saddle as she has alot of fattening up and muscling up to do but it's waaaaay too long in the panel, 2 inches too long. Any saddle suggestions, pref jumping saddle but anything considered!!

I have similar prob with my boy - 17.5 saddles are generally too long for him. He's a 16hh TB. Currently he's wearing a 17 Kent and masters jump but its not the best fit. Apparently would be better with longer tree points? Saddler out in a few weeks though I found the throwogood saddles not too bad on him but def no bigger than 17 seat which is fine cause I'm only 5ft2 but appreciate others need bigger seat
 
Thanks, I don't really need a bigger seat but I can't see that half an inch on the seat size will lose me 2 inches off the panel length? I'm only 5'4/ 8 1/2 stone, so I could probably fit a 16.5? (which Thorowgood don't do.... )
 
Ohh, check out my thread about saddles, somewhere on page 2... Same issues you're having, loads and loads of suggestions on there!

That's true I guess the throwogood panels are big. Have you tried a wintec? I know they aren't the best but my wee TB mare got on great with the wintec close contact jump
 
Had a read through that thread Lolo, sadly can discount a few :(

Passier very long panels, exselle integra was ok, could have done with more panel depth but fixed girth straps are too far along her ribcage, 17" whitaker too long, kieffer passau 17" too long, albion too long.
Not tried prestige, pony saddles or race exercise!!
 
My boy is exactly like this!! Shark fin withers and very short back. I had a Thorowgood GP that was slightly long for him in a 17.5, decided to opt for a jumping saddle instead so called out the saddler... I ended up with a Saddle Company event saddle, which fits him BEAUTIFULLY. Apparently the Saddle Company original guy used to work at Thorowgood before setting up himself... so they have similar fit. I got a full leather one, and whilst it's not the most comfortable saddle I've ever hacked out in, it fits him so well and it's SO great to jump in (just trialled it XC last weekend and it was a DREAM) that I would defo recommend.

Have you tried something 16.5 but with a flat seat? Would give her the short panels and you a bit more room in the saddle?
 
Can you measure the maximum length the horse can accommodate? I can measure a few saddles I 'know' and get back to you.
