I'm looking for a second hand jumping saddle for a thoroughbred and was initially thinking maybe of an Albion K2 jump but am struggling to find one second hand at the moment. I have found an Ideal Grandee but have never sat in one before, any views good or bad?

The Grandee is defined as a GP by Ideal. The Impala is a nicer jumping saddle, and has good kneew/thigh blocks. A friend got a very nice one from ebay for £650.

I have a very high withered TB and the grandee was the only saddle that fitted him. Never had a problem and bought it from new 3 1/2 years ago. But if the impala was around then I think I would have gone for that. Not a lot of Impala's around second hand though.

i have one, i have it with the large knee and thigh blocks and have never had any problems. ive had it for about 6 or so years now and it still looks good even with my lack of tack cleaning.

everyone who has sat in it have loved it and said how comfy it is. would def get another one or at least a similar ideal.

I have bought several saddles from "saddles direct" who have a very good website. They sell good second hand saddles and will send you as many as you like to try before you buy. Very good service

I have an Ideal grandee on my warmblood, but she hasnt got high withers. It is very comfortable and I have show jumped, x-c and competed at dressage with it. I asked for a jump saddle and this one was the only one that fit my mare. I am having it checked in 2 weeks. If I decided to change it, I would have an Ideal Imapa or the hyala (sp) as I have had no problems with this saddle for about 2 years and it has been re-fit about 3 times in that time, just minor alterations.
