My saddle basically lives in my car, as our tack room at the yard is damp and not particularly safe, so i would rather take my tack home than have to replace it.

Those of you who transport your saddles around on a daily basis, how do do sit them and where?

I call you what doesn't work, those plastic saddle carrier things. Kept falling off whatever I did.

I pop mine pommel down in the boot against the left side of the car. I can stack 1 inside the other and still have space for the rest of my tack.

Ah now mine was ideal! I agree in the boot of a bigger car the just fall off but I used to have a little Renault Clio and on the back seat they fitted in really well. Also fitted well sideways in the boot but my chewy dog wasn't really to be trusted hence the back seat worked for me.

I've taken one of the headrests off the back seat, and taken the boot shelf off. My saddle sits over the back of the back seat.

Mine goes pommel down on the back seat of the car, with the cantle laying against the seat, and a seatbelt over it :)

I agree! Mines now sitting in the garage as it was soooo annoying. Saddle now sits propped on it's cantle on the back seat.

Whenever I have to take my saddle anywhere it either goes pommel down in the boot or back seat with the cantle resting against the side/back of seat.

I used to ride in a dr saddle all the time & to avoid it getting scuffed in the car, bought it a carrier. I had to order it from the USA as I couldn't find what I wanted in the UK for a dr (not sj or GP) saddle. It is made of really good quality black heavy duty nylon, almost like canvas, with a fleecy lining & a zip all the way round so it fully unzips all the way back to the cantle. So easy to pop in & out. To get it in, I used to pop the fully opened carrier on the stable door, plonk the saddle on top, fold the top half over & zip up.

So pommel down, in a cover in the boot resting against the side of the car, this is what i have beend doing with my old saddle, it has a fleece cover and a saddle carrier bag, but i have just bought a new saddle and I just wanted to see how everyone else transported them, whether i was doing the right thing or not
