getting missy a new saddle and looking at wintecs.

as she is changing shape, i thought it would be good as its got CAIR, adjustable gullets and the flexibloc system.

any reviews - good or bad? and do you have any photos of any type of this saddle on a horse?

thanks

I have the new 500 and really like it. sorry no pics
They fit my horse very well but thats not the case for every horse even thou they have a changeable gullet.

I had a wintec 500 a few years ago. Only kept it for a short while as it didn't fit my horse (she is xw now) and they do come up very narrow so for not for the wider breeds.

I found it fine though. Easy to keep clean etc. No problems with it. I think if it fits your horse than great, but I believe even with the changeable gullet system they are still made for a certain shape. I now have a kent and Masters changeable gullet one (it's leather) made from the Thorowgoood lot and I love it.

Have ridden in the 500 GP and HATED it. Felt cheap, tacky, put my legs in the wrong place, everything. As a leather saddle person, it was everything I had expected!
Then for personal reasons got a 500VSD and have been 100% delighted with it! Used it for 3 different horses, and everything from local showing to PreNovice XC clinic.
I think because I have long legs, the GP just really didn't suit me, but I can't fault my VSD for both ease of use and general aesthetics. Even had a couple of people not believe me when I said it was synthetic, perhaps in part coz it's brown.
However, remember that they only adjust at the front, so if the back's wrong, no amount of fiddling at the front will make it right for your horse.

I have a wintec 500 for my irish draught. Its very comfy. Only thing i found was the girth straps started to rip. I replaced them with leather straps. Apart from that i have no complaints

oOOoo intrested in the saddles you all have for sale. give me links

thanks for input. will try a few out and see which fits. quite like the look of them. id need a new on by the end of the year anyway as she really does keep changing shape lol

I have the wintec 500 both gp and dressage. The fit well on Lace but haven't got any good photos to show you.
We went for Wintec as in the same position as you, young horse changing shape. Once she has finished changing we will get leather saddles but I find the wintec very comfy.
The gullets are really easy to change too

I had a wintec 500 a few years ago, no pics as was before the days of affordable digital cameras! I brough it as my horse was 3 and carried on changing shape for 3 or 4 years after that. used it to brake him and changed the gullet 3 times in it, got on very well (although not a patch on my albion i have now!!!!!!!!!!!) but i will be getting another one for my shire when it comes the time to break him until he stops changing shape. Think they are brill for breaking due to, as you say, changin shapes, and they are also really light as a first saddle, kind on the back. Good for winter hacking too as it doesn't matter if they get wet or muddy! Deff think they are the best out af the synthetic saddle on the market (griffin ones are horrid!)
