My retired chap has an Wintec Isabell Werth saddle and I loved to ride him in it, it made me feel so secure on him (something had to

Monty's GP saddle is at saddlers being reflocked and saddler had a look at Isabell on him and said it's quite a good fit so use it on Monty whilst she has other one

Well, it's horrible on him and I don't feel at all secure

Anyone else had that happen to them?
Am tempted to go find horse that fits nice, comfy 'no buck is gonna budge me in this' saddle

I've just experienced the reverse.

Since taking up riding again in November, I have been using a Wintec, as my OH really rates them (and she's the boss). All seemed OK, but as I'm a novice (under instruction) I really didn't know any better, until last Thursday, when I tried an old English leather saddle we picked up as a spare from Ebay. Well! different pony, different rider. I am so much better connected and my NF is really reacting brilliantly to my aids now. I am also sitting better as the saddle sort of encourages me to sit properly (which I was trying to do before, but not as well).

The Wintec has now been sold!

What breed is Monty?

The Isabelle Werth is a very funny saddle - I rode a friend's lovely Anglo in one and thought it was the comfiest saddle in the world. She was a 16.2hh big moving dressage horse and I felt glued to the saddle in all gaits. I also felt her responding very well to seat commands and changes in weight. Then I tried one on my 15.2hh horse - was awful. I felt completely out of balance, my leg was being dragged back by the stirrup bars and I was tipping forward. He ran about with his head in the air and refused to listen to me.

I have come to the conclusion that they really only suit horses with a decent wither and who are not flat across the back. They dont have the same tree as the Wintec but I think they still suit the same types of horses. I also feel the seat is quite small as they designed it to make you sit deeper, so if you have a short backed horse you might have a problem getting a big enough seat.

My SC dressage doesnt have as deep a seat as the Isabelle Werth but I find it more comfortable, and if I manage to ride every day/other day I find my seat deepens naturally.
