Can I have some advice about saddles please?
I do need to get a saddler out to get one fitted for him properly but I don't know what type of saddle to go for.
He has quite big shoulders and a very short back and I'm paranoid about making sure I get something that doesn't pinch his shoulders and isn't too long.
Should I be looking at wh saddles or show saddles?
I am considering treeless and there is a libra trec and pad I can purchase off preloved but I don't know whether to go for it.
Any help gratefully received :)

Straight cut saddles range from VSD (straight cut GP with fairly short flaps) through WH (often a more elegant saddle though they vary a lot as to how forward cut) to showing, which will be flat seated usually and very small blocks. I would recommend finding a fitter who understands your shape of horse and can bring a wide range of models that might fit ie has a large selection of straight cut saddles, most local tackshops would have a few dressage and VSDs but very few show/WHs.

You might need a straighter cut saddle yes but it's impossible for us to say without seeing the horse. It's not necessarily the flaps you need to worry about but the points of the tree and where they sit.

The only way to work out what fits and what doesn't is to try some on. Find a saddler who has a good selection of new and second hand saddles and try a few out.
