SADDLEWORLD?? Opinions

I am really struggling to find a saddler who stocks a vast/good range of secondhand saddles. I have a really decent amount to spend but am sick of waiting for things to come up – Saddleworld seem to have a lot but I haven’t heard of them before. If anyone has any experiences with the (good or bad) please please can you let me know – pm me if you prefer, many thanks

I have used the guy there Ken to fit 2 saddles and have been really impressed with how thorough and professional he was, never bought a saddle from them though.

rude, abrupt, and does not do the alterations himself gets someone else to do them who has never seen the horse!!!

Depending where you are in the country Penfolds in Cuckfield stores loads of saddles which you can take out a try for a few days, cant comment on fitting as never used them but they are very busy and you have to wait which speaks volumes.

I probably won't argue with Splash saying he can be somewhat abrupt..... however, I have to say that I think he is absolutely super at his job, mannerisms not withstanding!

He is quite, erm, "old school" (I daredn't get him out and try out a saddle on one of my horses if both me and the horse aren't properly attired!). However, he has a great selection of saddles and I've not yet had a bad fit from him.

.... as a good example, I described a new horse to him that needed a saddle, he came out, took one look at him, said "no, that absolutely won't do, I've got all the wrong saddles" and went away again and re-scheduled to come out with new saddles (clearly my description was lacking....). Now, you might say that lacked TLC but actually I totally loved him for it - he won't try and blag fitting a saddle that will only half do, he takes it as a matter of professional pride that the saddle must be a good fit.

Personally, I've not found anyone else in the south east that I would trust more to fit a saddle.
