A perkinese (sp?!) little dog got attacked this morning (9.30am) by a husky. (think I've mentioned the huskies before!?) The owner is beside herself, the husky owner just went home and has (to my knowledge) done nothing to help.
Trouble is, the husky (bitch) had apparently thrown the little one with such force, she has come out of her little harness lead thingy and since gone missing. Myself, and the local neighbourhood have spent most of the day out looking for the little thing, as we don't even know if she is injured or just shocked, but probably hiding somewhere. No luck yet.

The owner of the huskies (owns 2, but only 1 attacked) is so NOT clued up on his dogs breed, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Now many are worried for little children running around, their playful cries and games don't mix with this husky. I've been told it wasn't on a lead, but, tbh, everyone who has seen them before today claims he never had them off the lead, so why today??

Currently waiting for further news as I am now not in the immediate area.
Vibes that 'Tips' comes home as safe as can be given the circumstances.
 
Hope the poor wee dog is home soon and is not too badly hurt :(

Have to say though that dog on dog attacks do not automatically translate to dog on child attacks, they can differentiate between species most of the time.

I take it no one had a friendly word with these people, I think I suggested last time that someone could advise them to join a husky forum, attend a meet or training class?
If I see someone struggling with a dog I try to stop and have a chat, yeah, they might tell me to bog off and mind my own business (no one has, yet) but at least I have said something and not let them walk on by.
Doesn't sound good for the dog though, some action needs to be taken, has anyone actually approached this man? I'd be battering his door TBH, it IS his responsibility.
 
Hope the little peke turns up safe and well, what a nightmare for the owners. If there is a decent dog warden in the area I suggest they are contacted and asked to speak to the husky's owner.
 
I agree that this will almost certainly not translate to human aggression or put children in danger, dogs know the difference between dogs and children and working in this dog's favour is the fact that huskies ought to have excellent temperaments with strangers - I say ought to, as unscrupulous breeding and poor training has a lot to answer for, but they are known as a breed for their absolute lack of guarding behaviour and affability with strangers.

Back in ye olde Siberia they were expected to be packed into the tent to keep the kids warm. :p

That said, a husky as out of control as this one sounds is a bloody nightmare, they're not especially big dogs but by god are they strong and they have an incredible prey drive. He needs to get savvy about this breed NOW before someone else's dog is hurt.

Agree with contacting the dog warden but also, if you're feeling kind and brave, I'd speak to the owner and advise him to call SHCGB who can provide breed specific advice, they really are very good.
 
Just to say the little perkinese (can someone please tell me how to spell!) was found early this morning, in a bush at the side of a field. She is ok, shocked but seemingly uninjured. Was taken to the vets as a precaution, now warming up at her home!
In the meantime, the dog warden has been contacted and is due to pay the husky owner a visit.

You're not in the north london/hertfordshire borders by any chance... there is someone with two huskies who walks them with zero control and idea of training near the yard where I keep my horse who sounds startlingly similar (ie an accident waiting to happen....)

Good news she has been found unharmed, (its Pekingese ;)) hope the dog warden manages to get the husky owner to improve his control.
