We had a lovely arab come in the other day as a possible RS pony for our RDA/able bodied centre.

Today I rode her in the school to try her out. She was lush - really fresh, spooky, bouncy and exciting. She started off with her head vertically up in the air, eyes popping and back arched, but gradually started to relax and stretch. She was really quick off the leg with a huge trot. She spooked at light patches on the floor and tottered round them with her eyes out on stalk, it was so much fun - I really enjoyed riding her. I'd forgotten how good it feels to ride something a bit silly and sharp.

Totally unsuitable for us of course being a disabled riding centre and she is going back tomorrow. Gutted I am

[cries] Why do the fun ones always have to go back? I just know she'll be replaced with something sensible, chunky and thorougly boring

pointless post but everyone else is ranting so I thought I'd join in and have a moan.

call me a bitch but how funny would it be to use a horse like that. I used to teach RDA to and I hated riding them horses lol was like sitting in an arm chair. I did feel sorry for them horses though bless them

LOL I'm glad you know what I mean. I re read my post and thought
'I hope that doesn't sound like a "I'm sooooo amazing at riding, I only like crazy horses" type post" because I'm not at all - I'm the biggest wuss going

But it has to be said that most of our RDA ponies do not really inspire excitement in riders bless their hearts.

She could have really surprised you!

Shame she didn't suit but you can't be too careful when safety is paramount. I bet the horses are just as bored with their ploddy old lives as you are with them though.

My old arab mare was just as you described all the time when I rode her, but, I could put a child, a novice, a nervous rider on her and she transformed into the gentlest old plug ever. She would move herself to keep in balance if anyone wobbled and truly looked after them.
