Hi all

Well after Saf throwing herself on the concrete 4 days ago I never actually thought we would make it to Windsor
ooo.gif
but at 4am yesterday I dragged my self out of bed and by 5am I had dragged Saf up from her sleep, not a happy horsie.

Made it to Windsor by 6.15 and forgot how far it was to the other side to walk the course, I was 2nd into the ring

for the Team Services Comp, walked into the ring to walk and boy that ring is impressive, if I had had more time, might have got nervous but as it was it left me 10 mins to warm up, warm up felt hard under foot as they had rolled it so did not do too much and loved the chap outside calling our names telling us how many we had to go, felt like a pro

Warm up

Was called up to the gate and in we went, Saf had a good look around then got on with the job, least the stands were empty that time of the morning and she jumped the most fantastic calm round for just one pole that she hardly touched, at this point the realisation dawned that I had just jumped in the main ring at Windsor and I could not stop grinning
grin.gif

I have permission from Pleasure Prints for these and old one from 1995

Our other 2 team members went clear and we qualified for the final later in the day so had time for a walk around and a bit of shopping.
Back at the lorry tarted Saf up, plaits had to be smart to parade infront of the Queen and we decided J from our team would do the jump off as she has the horse who jumps consistantly

All the teams (26of them) met up at 3pm for the parade and waited by the river to be called up.
The Team

At this point Saf was calm but as we got closer to the main ring I could feel the buzz of the huge crowd and so could she
blush.gif

We practised out eyes right and salutes so the Queen would be impressed and in we all went, Saf just about held it together as far as one side past the Queen and then bounced like a ball and the more the crowd cheered and clapped the worse she was, did some lovely piaffe and passage and some other stuff I am sure has names, I just could not stop grinning. I really do think Saf thought it was all about her, I was happy to see other horses mis behaving too
grin.gif

Out side we then waited for J to do the jump off, I had a cry as I have also ridden Safs mum at Windsor and it was just too much as I loved Treasure so much
This was her in 1995

I think she and Saf are so alike
grin.gif

anyway pulled myself together and J produced a super clear round and we finished 4th

Back in for the prize giving and again Saf boiled over I kept her well away from the Queen as she was now spinning like a top and striking out with the leg at a rate of knots and the crowd behind kept laughing and making more noise which just kept her high
grin.gif

Did manage to get the rossettes into her plaits and we cantered around the ring in our teams it was just amazing and I feel so proud

Sorry for the overload of pics I so hope we can go back next year, I have some vids if ever I can work out how to download

Thanks for reading

Great result , welldone
smile.gif
sounds like a real occasion - and doesn't she look like her mum!

Very, VERY well done - I am sure it is super intense and emotional even if you DON'T have a history there, so to have that memory of Treasure too must have been slightly overwhelming

Hi
It was amazing , we are so lucky to be able to do such a thing. We knew other competing in the highest level jumping and one won the showing championship but they didn't meet the Queen, I never knew it would be so special.
It was our first time but to think you rode Saf's Mum there,it is funny how we both bred our horses that were there.Love you pics and you have the smoke like Claire ,we thought it was her gardian angel.lol.
A very special day and if we get there next year we are going to stay longer, hope to see you at the Royal Tournament [ not that there will be any Royalty there].
Well done to you and your team

Just read your other post about Saf's busy week and then her fall. So glad she is OK, and thay you were able to go today. What an experience!!!!

Fiona

Lovely pictures - what a special event for you to have ridden mother and daughter there. Great result too, well done.

TE thank you, amazing that she was there must have had luck on my side the cuts are peeling today but looking good underneath, thank god for intra site gel and ventalix
grin.gif

Thanks C, loved the smoke in the photo too shame the seats were empty, if I can get time off will defo try and come to the Tournament
grin.gif
Keep the lovely Penfold safe I just love his jump
grin.gif

What do you mean by Surrey - I thought it was forces jumping. See I work for the Military and would love to do this but as I am a Civvie I'm not allowed - which I think is pretty unfair. I did blag it at Gatcombe BE once though.

Sorry, Surrey Police however one of our team is not police and under the rules its anyone one who works for or is a dependant off, worded something like that?
They had everyone there from army, navy, animal defence league, look at windsors web site for the full results and all the teams to get an idea, hopefully see you next year then
grin.gif

Very well done both of you, it was such a hot day. You both/all looked fab, Kate & I did have a glass of pimms waitting for you...(but kate drunk it!!!) lol
smile.gif
, I have some nice pic's of you and saf with your team members.

Hi J
It was good to see a face I knew as I went round, shame I could not grab the Pims, no drinking on duty tho

grin.gif

Can't wait to see the pics
Thanks

Think Windsor is just for serving as we weren't allowed a dependant , which we were at Aldershot, but may be wrong!
Having said that we were allowed CPSO's this year and I think one of the other team must be in the TA's as she is a surgeon at our local hospital, though she is a Lt. So its quite confussing .At the Royal Tournament the customs and exise have a team and dependants are allowed ,I think.

My OH has been to Windsor in the services team comp several times and according to him the team must comprise currently serving or reserve members of the forces, no dependants or retired members.
Well done, I am so glad you had a good time as the atmosphere is fabulous, the arena fantastic and where else do you get a chance to parade for the Queen!! Just a shame the first rounds are so early!

Thats me getting it mixed up with eventing as Gatcombe for eg is dependants too, we are all working
tongue.gif
grin.gif

Yeah 7.04 is far to early in my book, want to be the last team next year
grin.gif

I felt V proud when Saf paraded yesterday - not many people can claim to have ridden her!
wink.gif

I'm so glad you managed to get her there as sharing that I now realise just how special it was for you and why you said you didn't want to take anyone else. Although I would have loved to have seen M in there!

Well done. I was there watching, my old horse that i sold last year was on the West Midlands team. I was so proud of him and his owner, they jumped superb and you all looked so smart.
