Having gone through many toys in trying to find items to entertain my 2 year old Percheron cross ID I’m looking for ideas that are safe and tough to withstand the rolling, crushing and running around with said item in the mouth without its speedy death!

We have lost many tub trugs, I’ve tried a jolly ball but it’s disappeared completely, either in neighbouring fields or hiding in nearby nettles! A large football sized tennis ball has also been shredded and expelled from the field somewhere! A full size horse ball that lasted 10 minutes so I tried a big orange space hopper……that lasted 2 minutes!

What is there that will last his trashing? He loves running with things in his mouth, the more he can flap or swing it the better?! Any ideas greatfully received! Thank you 🤗🤣

The Arab stud where Arabi came from had a stallion that used to play with an old turnout rug when turned out, it was hilarious to watch him running around with it and attacking it he really loved it.

He already had fun with my other geldings rug over winter while he wears it! Not sure I would dare encourage playing with rugs! Lol!
Not seen these jolly pet balls so might be an option and can withstand his messing! It will probably end up disappearing over the fence though but a bright red one easily seen! 🤣

The big rope tug toys made for the big mastiff breeds last well and are only cotton and not long fibres so not that hazardous
I have these for my donkeys and they can stand up to nearly everything while giving hours of fun. They also have a dog snake toy made from a canvas type material folded in on itself.

i feel we need an image to appreciate the problem...............otherwise we might give inappropriate sized options :)

Yeah I agree I think they only let the stallion do it as he went out on his own.

Buy another 2 year old 😁 Hours (if not years) of entertainment with each other!

Yep that. My 2 year olds play and play and play. Then they get the others to join in too. Our newest one went out with the herd yesterday. She’s so unfit compared to them! They play races, some version of tag, and all sorts of fun running games.

Be wary of traffic cones - I was on holiday last year when I got a call "Your horse is wearing a traffic cone on his leg". He'd done a sliding stop and slid his hoof into the open end of an old traffic cone in the field and his foot slid down and then made a hole through the side of the cone. I was miles away and phoned my lovely horse sitters. They immediately went there. One put a headcollar on him and held him. A horsey passer by lifted up his other front leg. Then my horse sitter calmly, slowly, sliced through the traffic cone with a very sharp knife to cut it away from my horse's leg. (It was too tightly wedged to pull it back over the hoof). No damage to horse at all. Very lucky.

Thanks everyone! Some great ideas for toys for the youngster!

I had considered getting another youngster to play with him as it’s my poor gelding who has to put up with him and his playing but then thought 2 young ones pestering my gelding so decided its a ‘no’ to another twerp! Lol!

I have videos of him messing with buckets etc but not sure how to load them?!

My two young ones don’t pester the older ponies. The older ones do sometimes join in, but the little ones go for each other when they are bored and after a play about. I think your gelding would be relieved at another young one arriving, rather than put upon!

Wilko do some rope dog toys and I bought one for Lari, plus a material ball as I thought he'd love to play with them but he never did.
He much prefers routing through his neighbours manger and stealing her things instead. 😆
