Safe horse wanted for husband! where to buy??

Am looking for a horse for my husband who is a novice rider. He can walk and trot but needs to learn to canter and wants to be able to hack both alone and in company in complete safety - my nerves won't stand anything else!! I have youngsters to be backed and ridden out so I need him to be sat on something that if mine naps / spins / gallops off in the other direction will not join in when he pulls on the reins! Looking for something about 15.2hh that would live out in the summer unless it's very hot and doesn't under go a personality change if it's not sat on for a week as he works long hours. Ideally would like it to step out and be something I could ride as well. Can anyone recommend any dealers as don't mind buying from one. I know Clip Clop traders seem to have a good reputation but they are a long way East from us so if anyone can suggest / recommend someone closer to Wales or has any experience good or bad that would be great. Thanks guys :-)
 
To be honest, it sounds like a big ask! Is it not possible for your OH to have some regular lessons until his riding is a bit more established? He sounds like a real beginner (I don't mean this badly, we all have to start somewhere) and even the most ploddy horse can have its moments.

Another consideration is that however well behaved the horse is to begin with, it will need regular riding by a more experienced rider to stay this way and this will mean extra work for you.
 
I know 2 people who have bought very sensible, safe horses from these people... Cuddlycobs.com. - never been there, but both horses I know do exactly what was said on the tin!
 
Thanks guys, will have a look at those two. Don't mind travelling for the right horse!

Don't think a riding school is what we're after on this occasion. Just want something to plod safely round the block and that I can give him the odd lesson on - it's me that is nervous watching him, he's quite confident!

OH has learnt so far on my grade A's but their all a bit too well schooled for him to learn to canter on - they just end up doing changes all the way up the arena which is confusing for them and difficult for him!! The horse would have me to sit on and 'straighten' up if necessary and I'm reasonably experienced so that's not a problem. He would really just like something that is his 'own' just not the sort of horse i normally buy so was not sure of the best place to look but hopefully one of the'cob' yards will have something suitable! :-)
