We have a gorgeous Shetland pony he's around 32" (3ft 9 in a rug)
So not quite as big as a standard shetland. My 3 year old daughters rides him and loves it!now the problem I'm having is the little cub saddle he has tends to slip to the left and my daughter actually came off him going down a hill round a corner yesterday. So I'm looking into other options of saddle for him and her that are abit more secure. Her current cub saddle is fairly flat it does have a handle but it faces towards his neck amd there is nothing to stop her sliding off. Just wondering what others use on their Shetlands that are a better fit for a barrel shaped no whither pony but also abit more sturdy for my daughter

I was going to recommend a cub safari, I really liked ours and found it very secure. Perhaps a crupper? I never knew one to slip.

Wow the inky dinky saddles look brilliant sadly I can't quite stretch to that much. Is there any similar alternative or second hand ones. Non on eBay :( I am going to get a crupper to see if that helps too. But any other suggestions welcome

Nothing useful to suggest except a felt pad saddle. My daughter learnt to ride on one from age 2 (have still got it for tinies who come up).
Stays put really well, tho obviously at that age little ones can be quite top heavy & topple sideways.
Occasionally the Willis pads do come up.

Good luck :)

T4 pony club saddle fits our shettie like a dream!
We had exactly the Sam problem with a cub saddle on her & ours used to end up half way up her neck too!😕 (she won't toll orate a crupper!) Lilly goes hunting, XC, pony club rally's, mounted games, dressage, show jumping, everything really! Saddle never moves an inch!
