Safest thing to spray a straw bed with?

Since wood pellets have become rarer than a rare thing I'm trying pony on a straw bed.

I'm not sure how much bed he'll have left tomorrow morning as he was tucking into when I left in favour of his hay and with much vigor ?

I've heard people say you can spray with Jeyes fluid but on the off chance he still eats it, I don't think the chemicals can be all that good for him!

Is there anything less chemical-y I could use?

Mix a small amount of dirty pee soaked straw through the surface of the bed - this worked for my greedy pony.
