There have been loads of threads about unsafe practices (i.e. not fixing portables) or overheight/technical fences at unaffiliated HT's or ODE's...

In light of this I thought I'd draw attention to the facebook page I set up:

www.facebook.com/unaffiliatedxccoursephotos

The idea was to give riders a chance to see full course photos from unaffiliated events so they can make an informed decision about which events to enter in future. If you compare some of the courses supposedly of the same height on the site, some are a lot longer/meatier/scarier than others, and I think it is important for riders to know this before they arrive! ;)

So far the response has been really great, but we need more course photos! So if you are out competing any time soon, please take your camera with you when you walk the course and send the photos to xcpics@hotmail.co.uk - and if you have old course photos, please still send them, they are still helpful. :) Thanks in advance.

I loveeee this page, I am so happy that you made the page :). I am going to my first x country this weekend and typed it into google and your page came up. It has really put my mind at ease having a look at all the jumps and have been on it a good few times this week hehe. Thanks again for this page really helped a nervous rider (me) feel a bit better about the course ahead :D.

Oh I didn't know you set this page up Kate, I joined a while back!:)
I must say it's very useful!

Thank you so much MissDior - I'm so glad it helped put you at ease a bit, and good luck for the weekend! :D

Thanks Katie, got to get that big Ginger of yours xc-ing soon!! :) Yep - the Lockskinners 2'6 was where I took Billy cob a few summers back, thought the photos might be of use to others as I couldn't find out any info on the venue before we went.
