Following on from my post below I have been told that when I feel my mare about to explode I should adopt a safety seat???

What is a safety seat and how does it work? She has a particular skill for broncing to unbalance me followed by an almighty handstand throwing me over her shoulder!

I've tried short stirrups, long stirrups, sitting up and back, going into a forward seat and I still come off (and replacing hats is getting expensive!). I also have a balance strap attached to my saddle but I keep forgetting to use it and when I do go to grab it its a last resort and I've just ended up catching my fingers painfully! Would a breastplate be better?

I've always found super glue works a treat!!

with my mare i tend to stand up in the stirips and lean slighty forward, putting all weight onto the balls of my feet. this gives you to more balance. it also allows you to absorb the horse movements through your knees.

not sure if i explained that clearly but hope so

Its meant to be (probably what you have tried already) feet forward, fairly short stirrups, heels thrust well down, tilt forward over your legs, as though going over a fence.

Shorter stirrups, weight slightly behind the movement, stay upright and keep her infront of your leg where possible. Keep lower leg on and heels down!! Your lower leg is your seat belt so if it stays put you should too!!
