I recently broke my ankle, by (possibly...can't actually remember as was very quick) having my foot caught in the stirrup. So I was thinking about buying some safety stirrups. There seem to be so many different types on the market...which ones work? Are they worth buying or are they more for piece of mind?

I know that I don't like ones which look like distorted metal, as have ridden in these before.

Thanks :D

These are what I use - I broke both ankles very badly and have very limited movement in my ankles to the point that when I ride my feet slide through the stirrups a lot so use these to prevent any accidents and find them really good. I have big (size 9/10) feet and they don't push my foot back at all or affect my position other than prevent my feet from sliding through

Ooo I posted this ages ago...Since then I was very lucky because santa claus brought me some sprenger stirrups. Love them to ride with, it is like having suspension.
