Hi all
Not the best prep over the last few days, twisted shoe and missed a days riding followed by a very tense lesson
Set off this morning and had that first event of the season nervous feeling but somewhere in me was also a calmer bod trying to get out and that was without wine
So warmed up for the dressage lots of wild horses in the wind and Saf felt tense but tried to forget how she felt and ride the same warm up with lots of lateral work to make sure I keep my leg on even if she did feel she wanted to explode
They called us over into the second field with 2 to go and it was more sheltered and she started to soften, to be honest I was too busy making eyes at Williams lovely horse
In we went, it felt a safe test with moments of tension but for the first test of the season I came out pleased as punch

So back to the lorry change tack and off to the SJ, more gawping at William.........sorry his horse
and tried what I had been told at the clinic about looking away so I don't see my stride too early, still fired at a few
thanks to Lillie07 for keeping me calm and making me come again to the oxer.
Fence 1 and 2 were fine but I made a huge coc* up at 3 and she cat leapt and saved my bacon
bless Saf I then rode a bit better looked away then back at the fences and yes it does seem to work as it was a fairly calm round and we managed to stay clear

Lots of pats, more change of tack, use 3 different bridles
and down to the XC start, Lucinda was there what a lovely lovely person she had just finished and took time out to chat and I asked her how to ride the roll top at the top of the hill and she told me to take the gas off to get the turn, Lillie07 and mum were there and big thankyou, kept me calm.
Started counded down got to 3 and Saf threw a strop started striking out with her off fore had a bit of a spin and he kept saying "go and go go"
and could not get her in the box
silly mare she did go through then off she went, I tried really hard to let her find a pace and not interfere
Here is fence 4 a bit of a flyer

Think fence 9

Felt like it was all over too quick, ground was fantastic, and even with the blip at the start finished 17 seconds inside the time, Saf was awsome, we scored 36.5 in the dressage and double clear
No surprises at the 1 2 3 of Pippa William and Kitty but Saf was 9th so fab start to the season
