Hi All
Poor Saf has had a very very long weekend but a fantastic weekend and if a horse could smile she would
Started with a Russ Hardy XC clinic at Boomerang, started well for me as he said she was stunning *insert proud mummy silly grin* We begun the session in one of the outdoor schools with a simple exercise to make sure we were all safe to go XC, he insists a horse and rider can jump the height of the horses elbow in a safe and controlled manner.
We were safe so out we went.
Everyone no matter what standard jumps small to start and gradually builds, I like his style of teaching as he is very calm, jumped water, sunken roads, skinneys, steps, banks all sorts and I like the way he saw Saf likes to rush a bit and had me putting in the odd extra stride to get her on her hocks, at the end of the session he said now we all have the tools to do the job go and play and try it all out
Boomerang is a fab place and from the last time I went all the jumps had been moved.
Lucinda Fredericks was there with Brit WOW WOW
Onto the Pippa Clinic today, I have to say I was not sure after hearing different things about her teaching but I am a convert
She was very quick to pick things up, at first she said so much to me I wondered if I could actually ride
I was just so nervous and was trying far to hard

Warming up

I was so impressed about how she concentrated on the flat work and the quality of the trot and canter with soft knees and then lots of pole work in trot and canter, I always find canter poles hard for some reason and I must go away and do more
Trot Poles

Canter Poles

We then went on to canter poles to a small x, then upright and next we moved onto a oxer with a pole just chucked down an unknown amount of strides away and after jumping it she then moved it to a different location and we rode to the fence again

After this we rode a course, Saf and I were fine to the last fence when I fired and she said she was so disapointed in me
I knew I had fired just could not resist opps. She told me I am too hung up on looking for a stride, hence why the previous exercise was so good and when I come around the corner I should look away then look back at the fence IT WORKED FOR ME
also I have to let Saf do more of the work, I try to set up too much around the corners and was to let her balance herself the next time.
The fences went up and we did our second round, I tried to remember everything and looked away, soft knees and let Saf do more and blow me down if it was not one of the best rounds she had ever jumped, soft and no rushing WOW
So guys sorry its so long, Pippa was fantastic, Saf was a star and I have had a blast
You all deserve a glass of wine for reading
