Hi All

Poor Saf has had a very very long weekend but a fantastic weekend and if a horse could smile she would
smile.gif

Started with a Russ Hardy XC clinic at Boomerang, started well for me as he said she was stunning *insert proud mummy silly grin* We begun the session in one of the outdoor schools with a simple exercise to make sure we were all safe to go XC, he insists a horse and rider can jump the height of the horses elbow in a safe and controlled manner.
We were safe so out we went.
Everyone no matter what standard jumps small to start and gradually builds, I like his style of teaching as he is very calm, jumped water, sunken roads, skinneys, steps, banks all sorts and I like the way he saw Saf likes to rush a bit and had me putting in the odd extra stride to get her on her hocks, at the end of the session he said now we all have the tools to do the job go and play and try it all out

Boomerang is a fab place and from the last time I went all the jumps had been moved.
Lucinda Fredericks was there with Brit WOW WOW

Onto the Pippa Clinic today, I have to say I was not sure after hearing different things about her teaching but I am a convert

She was very quick to pick things up, at first she said so much to me I wondered if I could actually ride

I was just so nervous and was trying far to hard

Warming up

I was so impressed about how she concentrated on the flat work and the quality of the trot and canter with soft knees and then lots of pole work in trot and canter, I always find canter poles hard for some reason and I must go away and do more
Trot Poles

Canter Poles

We then went on to canter poles to a small x, then upright and next we moved onto a oxer with a pole just chucked down an unknown amount of strides away and after jumping it she then moved it to a different location and we rode to the fence again

After this we rode a course, Saf and I were fine to the last fence when I fired and she said she was so disapointed in me

I knew I had fired just could not resist opps. She told me I am too hung up on looking for a stride, hence why the previous exercise was so good and when I come around the corner I should look away then look back at the fence IT WORKED FOR ME

also I have to let Saf do more of the work, I try to set up too much around the corners and was to let her balance herself the next time.

The fences went up and we did our second round, I tried to remember everything and looked away, soft knees and let Saf do more and blow me down if it was not one of the best rounds she had ever jumped, soft and no rushing WOW

So guys sorry its so long, Pippa was fantastic, Saf was a star and I have had a blast
You all deserve a glass of wine for reading

Sounds fab, think I might go on a lesson with Russ, I know him quite well but thought he might be a bit scary as a trainer, sounds like i was wrong & I should go for it.

Thats great!

It's good that Pippa has developed more of a teaching style. Lots of good riders tend to start out quite lost but do develop the skills as they become more reliant on them for earnings!!

Thanks

I think at long last I am working her right on the flat for a start and also changed her onto D&H Staypower, Alfa A and Beet, she is all grown up

Saf is such a lovely mare! You should be so proud, i definately agree with Russ Hardy, she is stunning!
Agree she looks so muscular and well!
Still wishing she was mine, such a fan! Youve done so well to have such a nice horse, shes a credit to you!
You must get sick of me wittering on about her, but i really do think shes fab!
grin.gif

Never sick of hearing how lovely she is
grin.gif
, I'm a proud mum but have to say if you could see the bruise on my arm from where she bit me and also how she was cow kicking me when I was just trying to get a bit of sweat off her belly you might, just might change your mind
wink.gif

Well you know where to send her too when your fed up!
grin.gif

Henry can be vile and hes not half as talented as Saf so i wouldnt mine!
Think he would think hed died and gone to heaven if she strutted on to the yard!! Then they could be vile together!!

I so love your mare! That was a lovely to read - I'm shattered just reading it, so goodness knows how you feel - LOL! Am I right in thinking that you bred Saf? Can you tell me more about her please. I am always admiring her, but I've never asked about her
blush.gif
Age, height, breeding etc... Thank you - and sorry for being so nosey!

what a great report, sounds as if it was brilliant from start to finish. lovely mare too.
i think i need a session or a million like that. is Pippa easy to get hold of to book, or too busy to take on new people, do you know? ta.

Saf is a gorgeous gorgeous horse
laugh.gif
It sounds like you had the best time, learnt loads and can go away and play and constantly improve yourself and your horse, well done!
grin.gif

Saf is lovely and sounds like you had a great time!
I've been wondering about going to try their new school as it looks stunning- does it ride well?

Hi SN
Yes she is home bred this is her http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ts+sapphire
I don't know much about the sires side but the Stallion Jamillo was just so kind the perfect match for Treasure who was wild to say the least
grin.gif
I had mum on loan for 10 years and was there at the "rape" as I call it and spent 3 weeks in my car waiting for Saf to come into the world

She is 8 rising 9 on May 9th

Hi Kerilli
I'm not sure how busy she is, it was a clinic at Pachesham as a grand opening at their new school, have to say I might just ask her when I see her at an event she is not too far from me as I used to work just around the corner
Cx

I've definitely got de ja vu - we've had this convo before haven't we?! I am SO forgetful atm it's unbelievable!

She is just so stunning and elegant. Awesome that she has a toughie like Vulgan in her pedigree!! Never heard of Jamillo. Is he still around? Will you breed form her in the future?

ooops missed the boat on a write up.
grin.gif
but yes thoroughly enjoyed it, i found her pointers invaluable, and wow...such an amazing opportunity!

**wispers** heading to stilemans first (i hope self-destructing horse didnt hear that!

Vulgan was a wonderful stallion the breeding on the dam side is fantastic, I am more into the race side
smile.gif
Jamillo is no longer around he was put down last year after an accident, he was east german and have had loads of trouble trying to trace his side

I really would love to breed from Saf, maybe 2 years time when I get the event stuff out of my system, by the time the foal is born will want a jumper or dressage horse as intend to break etc myself and as 44 now will be getting close to 50

Saf has a 1/2 brother evening too he is like dad, heavier build and chestnut
