When I weaned Hermosa's foal last January, I was advised to give her dried sage to help the milk dry up. I bought a kilo of sage. That is a lot of sage! I didn't need to use that much of it, and now I have what looks like a giant bag of weed that's been living my cupboard for over a year. We use it for cooking but you don't use that much dried sage to cook.
I'm giving my horses oily herbs - rosemary, thyme, oregano. Does sage do anything else useful other than slow lactation in mares? Conversely, is there a reason not to add it to the mix?
