Thinking of selling my mare and putting on sales livery somewhere but never done it before. Does anyone have any experience of this? Know any good ones in South yorks/Notts/derbyshire areas?

She isnt the easiest of mares to ride so my thoughts are someone who can show her at her best, find the right home for her (competitive rider) and take the hassle away from me :D

Any thoughts welcome, feel free to pm any suggestions of comments if you prefer. Thanks for the help :D

I sent my last one to a place on the Wirral and was very pleased with it.I could see him whenever I liked and he appeared very happy there. They rode and schooled him and found him a lovely home within a month. They kept me up to date with viewings etc.and I could have gone to any of them although I chose not to.

I sold my horse this way, but miles from you. The one thing I would say, is that you need to have it in writing exactly what your costs will be, and what you will get back from the sale. Do not assume that the dealer will play fair with you, because even someone you know well, can change the rules if you aren't careful.

You also mention your horse is difficult, I would want to make sure the dealer is going to place the horse in the correct home. It is easy for professional riders to pass a horse off as being easier than it is, with the result that the horse is not sold to the correct people.

I dont know how far it is from you but Sports Horses International do sales livery. The guy who runs it is a very good family friend, and his daughters work on the yard with a few others. A misbehaving mare will not phase them in the slightest as they all break in horses and ride some very challenging rides! Not sure price wise but every horse on the yard is for sale so there are always people going to have a look, and as none of them are particularly mature or easy it is usually the more experienced confident rider. My horse is there at the mo (not on sales but just as a temp home) and I wouldnt have him there if I didnt think it was half decent!
