I posted awhile ago about what to do about my horse (as my husband has cancer) - and after looking into some sharer/loan options, have decided to sell. He is 7 in June, registered friesian with good breeding. Typical of breed is slow to mature, but going nicely - I am not too worried about the price I get for him, but the home is important - on the other hand I don't want him to end up with novice or with a non reputable dealer because I am looking for a quick sale and offer him cheaply. I also really don't have a lot of time to be dealing with calls etc or timewasters. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations - I am nervous about a sales livery unless its via word of mouth in case that makes the situation worse - he is a lovely horse that deserves a nice home - any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

He sounds lovely. I already have a Friesian cross and he is a beautiful boy who always tries very hard to please. Unfortunately he has just been diagnosed with arthritis in his coffin joints and whereas I will keep him for ever, I may be looking for something to do a bit more with. How much were you thinking of for him. PM me if you would rather. I have my own stables and land and I don't work so lots of time. I am so sorry about your Husband.

id advertise at a resonable price, possibley in hh, depending on confo and breeding etc, your find that if you aim at a specialist market, your get less time wasters.

ive always had a good sucess selling through free ads, ive no idea why but all the horses have sold quickly and have suffered few time wasters. im not talking cheap horses, 2 went abroad, and one went to a gbr rider (endurance.) in 2 cases the people travelled hundred of miles to view the horses.

I also would suggest putting him up for a good price, as although you are not too concerned about price if the price is too low people wander whats wrong or you will attract the wrong type of buyer.
Do you have a friend who could sell on behalf of you- so deal with calls?
Good Luck
