Ive a friend who is looking at possibly putting her mare on a sales livery, another friend of mine who does alot of showing & breaking has said she would be happy to take the mare for her, but none of us are really sure how to work out what to charge. Do people pay per week or do you have a % taken off the selling price, or both?
Many thanks in advance :)

I usually charge a reduced full livery price, expenses such as advertising, shoeing at cost plus 10% but will negotiate if the horse needs little work to prepare it for sale.

We just charge a standard sales livery fee and take no commission. That includes full livery plus viewing to prospective buyers, writing of adverts, advising of price for current market and high quality photographs. Only Extra charges are advertising fees, vettings etc. We like to have a horse with us for 2 weeks and will try it in every situation possible prior to advertising it so we can get a fuller picture.

I know a lot of people that do charge commission but to us we don't like to get involved in an owners financial dealings so what they get for the horse they keep. We are always 110% straight with any animal and if we don't feel we can sell it, we send them home. It's bloody hard work selling anything at the moment :)
