Can anyone help me with a sales receipt for my horse, I have sold him and they are coming to collect in a couple of days. they are not having a vetting, happy to take him without. I offered them one. So what is the best to say



Received with thanks the sum of xxxx in full payment for xxx. xxx is sold as seen, has never shown any vices or behavioural issues whilst I have owned him.

I am just not sure what would be the best wording. He is sound, fit, healthy and sane. but obviously they could injure him on the way home, or he could get a virus immediately going into a strange environment.

Help would be much appreciated :)
 
Sounds fine, we usually write something short and similar. Get a signed copy from you and signed copy from them so you can both keep one.

Maybe add sold as seen without vetting just to make it clear. I've never even mentioned the horses' behaviour on them?

Just something like:

Passport name, colour, breed, sex, age, sold as seen without vetting.

Received with thanks, the sum of £****

Signed (seller):

Signed (buyer):


Don't forget if you're the owner on the passport, a lot of passports have like a 25 day limit for new owner to update to their name. I've left it longer than that in the past though and they never mentioned anything.

I would add something like "no warranty implied or given, sold as seen".

Also add in the the full details of the horse ie 16hh bay gelding IDxTB, passport name XXXX, microchip number xxxxxx etc.

Not sure if I would personally add in the bit about vices or behavioural issues.
 
I have always just put xx received with thanks for the purchase of xxxx then a description of horse. Sold as seen balance paid in full on x date.
I have never thought about putting anything in about no vices etc
 
I usually write something like this for example

Luke - 15.2 tb gelding 12yo
Purchased on 28/11/12 for £3500
Sold as seen


Purchaser:
Seller:

And get the purchaser and seller to sign. Simple.
 
My horse's receipt was like this:
This is the reciept for Timmy. 16.2hh 13yo bright bay thoroughbred gelding. Sold on 13/8/12 for the sum of £1200.
Currently sound but buyer has been advised on treatment for his mild mudfever.
Seller: (name/signature and address)
Buyer (name/signature and address)
 
I got one when I bought my new pony in the spring. Just says something like "*pony's name*, *microchip number*, 15hh 5yo Irish gelding, bought for the sum of £XXXX on *date*. Fully vetted, sold as seen and tried with no known vices or behavioural issues". Signed by me and the seller. She made a copy to keep herself.
 
As a seller, you want to keep it brief and factual - £x for x horse.

Be careful not to give any warranties that might allow the buyer to seek remedy if it is not true (or they argue that it is not true after taking the horse home where he is out of your care/control).

Also, you could mention any details that you have told them about that you might want to declare in case they deny knowledge in the future and seek redress (e.g. vices).
 
i just use form from your passport, if you dont have one in back of your passport. you can go on your passport site and print new ownership form from it and just sign the part of your name and date selling and let them sign and date there part of new owner. photocopy one for you that is also signed. if they dont want vetting, you have been 100% honest this new ownership form is a sales reciept as it has old and new owners details and dates.
