Salt lick on a rope - when to throw away?

I have one of those pinky salt licks on a rope.

The boy loves it! However, its starting to get thin and at some point he will have licked through to the centre and the rope, whcih means it will fall off the rope.

He only licks the middle and so it looks a bit like an egg timer!

Do I leave it and wait til it falls off and let him crunch on it? Thought I would worry about choking on it!

Or do I decide enough is enough and chuck it and buy a new one?

Answers on a postcard!!!

Thanks

When mine falls off the rope I put it in a feed bucket and they lick it in there. No one has ever bitten a chunk off it and choked I don't think it's that tasty !

I just leave them in the corner of the stable when they fall off so they can carry on licking them - never had a horse try to bite them

Thanks peeps.

My horse is the only one I have seen try and bite into a Horselyx lick! Seriously, he is greedy about these things.

I turn it over but he keeps getting it back on the other side, so making even wear and tear difficult.

I bet that he will try and crunch it when it falls off. I just KNOW he will try it........

MONKEY.

I put it in their feed bowls for a while (which is also good in that it helps them slow down a little when they eat!), until it becomes smaller still and I throw it away as I am afraid they might ingest it by accident.
