Salt Licks

Just a quick one, I have left her salt in lick in her stable. Is she likely to have gobbled it all or will she have only licked as much as she needed (is that what they do with salt licks, i.e. eat as much as they need)? I know I am being silly but please someone put my mind at rest! Thanks.

Its normal to leave the salt lick in the stable all the time, so dont worry, sh e will only take what she wants. Although my boy tries to scrape huge lumps off with his teeth sometimes!
 
My boy is funny.... I was grooming him in a friends stable one day and he wa licking the salt lick like no tomorrow so I thought I'd buy him one. I put it in his stable and he's barely touched it!!!! It's the same salt lick too!!!! Funny little things sometimes aren't they?!!!
 
Should be ok with a salt lick I have heard of neddies gobbling whole lickits tho and giving themselves colic. Apparently the changed the formula to stop this happening. On a related topic what do you do with the ends of a salt lick? I always find myself left with quite big chunks and no idea what to do with them.

Bit like soap ends in the shower. I'm sure I should do something useful with them
