. . . for those of you who remember my post a while back about the saluki cros pup . . . she's not adorning my sofa (yet), but I haven't given up. She is growing like a weed (boy can she run) . . . is still unbelievably sweet and has a wonderful nature (and recall - although there are no small furries about ;)). Owner (young lad) originally said he wants £500 for her - no flipping way! But I have been chip, chip, chipping away and think I am making progress . . . YO is on-side, as is her daughter. Young lad knows how much I love this pup . . . he doesn't have enough time for her (she lives outside) . . .

. . . just wanted to say that she's still captured my heart and I would still like to bring her home . . . but it's not a simple process.

P

It would seem to me that you only have one option; Steal it! :wink3:

Alec.

Ha ha Alec . . . I can't say that that hasn't occurred to me . . . but I just can't do it . . . lad who owns her is YO's nephew - I couldn't look them (any of them) in the face . . . :(. Also, I haven't stolen anything in my life . . .

I'm not giving up though ;).

If the pup is a pure bred saluki, £500 Is not an unusual amount to pay. Not saying you should pay that though.

She's not.

I'm guessing saluki/whippet cross.

P

P.S. Let's just say the lad who owns her is of the nomadic persuasion . . . he's a sweet boy, polite and respectful, but to him she's a profit-making prospect . . . if you get my drift

Slowly slowly catchy monkey!

I really hope you wear him down!

Presactly!

£200 is more than enough, unless the puppy is a proper designer breed!

When he's next in earshot, point out to a.n.other that there are pups available at £150, and £200 is plenty! If that doesn't work, then go and buy a puppy elsewhere. £500 is just daft!

OMG she is just sooooo sweet :) You HAVE to have her... **searches in pockets for contributions**..... :D

Gorgeous isn't she? And she is as sweet/kind as she is pretty . . . just a little love really.

She's lovely! I've been popping back here to see if you'd sent any updates :)

IF I manage to persuade the lad to part with her (and I'm aware that that may not happen - she belongs to him and what he does with her is absolutely his prerogative), I will let you all know . . . in the meantime, she brightens up my mornings no end . . . such a poppet and so much fun to have around.

She is lovely, but he is definitely taking the mick asking £500. I hope you get her, but if you do does it mean her little JR friend will be all alone in her pen :(

Probably not . . . there is another JR girlie who lived with her before the lurcher pup showed up . . . plus JR is in season so doubtless will be spending time with one of the boys in the near future.

And, yes, £500 for a crossbreed/lurcher of unknown parentage is taking the proverbial . . . but she is a little diamond so am hoping I can persuade him to lower his price.

I own a saluki x whippet and she is a minx! I'm also fostering a saluki x Afghan hound............ He needs a home :-) ............. x

As lovely as the saluki/afghan boy sounds, if we do take on another dog it'd have to be another bitch because of Fred's issues . . . also, I'm not actually looking for another dog, I have just fallen in love with this one and feel she deserves a softer, kinder life than she currently has. She isn't being mistreated - she has shelter, food and water - but I do think she should live inside and be part of a family.

Hope that makes sense?

Perfect sense, and having watched your vid, she isn't particularly enjoying the attentions of the terrier, or her lifestyle, I'd say.

£500 is lunacy. Offer him 2, and see what happens. If he turns you down, then it's back to Plan B!

Perfect sense and actually at this rate he is going to be a failed foster - everyone needs 4 dogs right........

My girl would hate be live outside. She is very feline and likes to be up high so is currently sleeping on top of the dog crate next to the radiator. Good luck - hope you win him round x

£500 is far too much for a cross, but I just wanted to say I am one of a fairly limited number of registered and assured saluki Breeders with a line going back to the late 60s, so if you have any saluki related questions yell! If you have any photos I can have a stab at identifying the saluki part line- some of them have distinctive features.

Thanks - I may well take you up on that, if I am successful. Have you seen the video of her above?
