Tuesday went to turn S out, as in overnight and out through the day in the same field as he has been since we moved yards in October - so no grass, but i note shoots are coming through.

As he started to trot realised he was lame on near fore. Now S has had lami in the past albeit mild and usually bout now led me to think it could be laminitis.

His symptoms arent the same as usual - usually he has problems turning, and a shuffling pottery walk, heat and bounding pulses - mainly in near fore.

Since Tuesday there has been no pulses palpable, very slight warmth to hoof a slightly swollen coronary band and putting full weight on it when pick the off fore up (something he dislikes usually if it is a bit of laminitis.)

He was fine when i rode on Monday night

What could be wrong wif him as horsey is definitely broken...

My guess would be an abcess as well but suggest you get the vet out to be sure. How many times has he had lami?
 
when i got him (7years ago) i was told by my farrier he had had lami in the past, his feet were like slippers, but as he was my first horse thought e just was 'made like that' luckliy he was shod shortly aftr gettng him, so knew from early days i was going to have to be careful.

He has had about 4 episodes of very short lived potteryness and heat. Even on bare 'winter' grazing. I was plainning on making a 'starvy' wth temporary electric fencing, but the field is bald (till you look closely and there are shoots poking through) Only ever at this time of year!

Just been back to farm and where his legs are still wet from washing the mud off at dinner time, there is a definite dry area just above coronet, toe is cold, not fllinching to pressure on sole of foot and is now warm round pastern, but cold above fetlock....
wondering now if he has twisted it.............

He is definitely not himself, normally would have broken the stable door down to be out, but is stod quietly eating soaked hay (just incase)

I'd get your farrier out rather than the vet. He'll be able to rule out lami and he can check the foot. I'd be thinking possible abcess
