I guess it depend what your plans are for the winter. For my ultra hairy guys, I am not too bothered. So long as I can keep the manes / tails in reasonable shape (ie not WOMD / caked in more mud than is healthy) then bodies are covered in poll to tail rugs.

If I can at least get most of the mud off to ride (not compete), then am not too bothered.

For the fine skinned one, he wont be clipped.
