Sanctuaire

Thank God I missed that..............it is the one thing I dreaded when I worked in NH, but all the horses I took racing came home.
Very upsetting for all concerned.

Was gutted to hear this. One of my favourites. I didnt realise he was only 7. I didnt even realised he had changed ownership in the summer and moved to Willie Mullins. Thought go out to all connections

He was one of your favourites but you didn't know he had been sold, moved to Ireland or his age !
For me I don't understand why they school horses over regulation fences, just too risky to jump them in cold blood.

Presumably because trainers have found it normally results in fewer injuries in hot blood when racing ? Would you prefer that horses met these fences for the first time in a race? Madness. Even the GN has now got training courses round the country so horses can be given a chance to get used to them.

Fair point lol! He seems like he has been around forever which is why I didnt realise he was only 7. My work has blocked the racing forum I use so until the jumps season starts properly I miss a lot of news Id normally pick up on there

A very talented but quirky horse, its a huge loss as he was highly regarded, I didnt know he had changed ownership, he was sold to dissolve a partnership according to the Racing Post.

There is a reason why schooling fences are smaller than the actual fences on raceday and although most trainers now use grand national type fences to get horses used to them before the big race they will hardly be beecher's brook size !
