I have had quotes for both majority sand with flexiride as a stabiliser, and majority flexiride with sand as a stabiliser. The majority flexiride is slightly more expensive but to be honest I just want a decent surface at last after having woodchip for the last 4 years so would rather pay more to get a better surface.

Does anyone have either of these and which would you prefer ? Thanks for all your advice :-)

I've got a silica sand base with the Flexiride on top. The sand packs hard and then the Flexiride protects from frost and drying out. As the Flexiride is softer than rubber it also flattens and packs down so you end up riding on top of it. Key is to get the sand pretty wet before you ride on if for the first time.

I have a silica sand base with flexiride topping, the flexiride was difficult to spread, mine has been down 7 months and its getting better as it flattens down. Have heard that majority flexiride surfaces ride quite deep..

Thats interesting, thanks :-)

I thought everyone would say flexiride with small amount of sand but actually majority sand is better. I have been told that proper good silica sand is the basis of any good arena so I guess its true !

Surfaces, am doing my research on what and why, to much choice!

I did see an arena that was all flexiride and to me it felt like walking on a giant sponge and not very supportive, that school has since had sand run through it but not seen it since.

After my discussions with the company I will be looking at sand base with something else, as yet the something else has not been decided. It also depends what type of work you want to do on the surface, I jump and they felt a flexride with a bit of sand would not be best for what I am looking for in a surface.

It is interesting to read about it being difficult to spread. My thoughts at the moment are tending towards turf float elite or tried and tested rubber chunks

I went to view a flexiride with sand run through the top and it was very very deep and variable in going
and like walking on a mattress .If you are going flexiride I would def put it on the sand not vice versa
