Has anyone sold their saddle to sandon?? If so how much did you get for it? And what condition etc was your saddle in?
I know every saddle is different but just want a rough idea if it's worth taking my two old saddles down there or not??

I am friends with the person who does their tack repairs. He is in his 40s & there are saddles there that he remembers playing on as a child...!!

It's a funny place & I'm a bit scared of going in there.

Sos, probs no help at all...!!

now is that Sales of Sandon or Sandon sales (I get the 2 confused). The one I always refer to as the 'little old ladies' shop is brill - you can get lost in there! Be warned, if you go in to buy a hoofpick you'll come out with a whole tack box! Theyre very good!!! I kitted my then 3yo out rugs, tack the lot for about £100!
Pointless reply really, i've never sold anything there, but love the place!

I live locally. They have lots of saddles, ranging from quite nice to things I wouldn't put on a rocking horse!. They always seem to be quite busy. If you want to sell a saddle don't take it in on a Wed as that is the main saddle lady's day off.

Depends on the journey length.

I've successfully sold one saddle with them some years ago. They didn't advise me that saddle had sold - leave it to you to call them.

Have an ancient saddle (low value) that has been with them several years now. Every time I phone to ask if it is sold I just get one of the ladies rabbiting until i loose the will to live.

If you need the money anytime soon ie next decade, suggest you try elsewhere.

How funny it is SANDON SADDLERY little oldies aladdins cave...love it in there but yes irresistable place and you will be gently encouraged! At one time I use to get told I needed a new saddle every week!! Of course cant have too many of those!

I have known people do really well selling bits and bobs but I did have a friend sell a saddle many years ago and wont go back. She had a good make told them the minimum she would take for it and they never rang her to say they sold it for a lot less. She was not a happy bunny!

But they have tons of saddles so if you can sell them elsewhere ie ebay that could be your better option or preloved etc

Also not sure where u stand if it went missing either. But I love that shop and if i need a new saddle i will head there. Agree Wednesday is the day to avoid!!

Sales of Sandon is down the road (feed merchant with some horse stuff as well nice shop as well)Or also known as Cecil Sales.Same place.

I use both.

Last time I went there I came away with 7 volumes of Point to points, that I didn't want or need as they were several years out of date, still have them in the attic, 30 years later:D:D:D

Got a saddle from them about 4 weeks ago wasnt sure whether would fit, left card details etc, they rang on Friday... wanting to know if we were keeping the saddle.. we said yes and so they processed the payment. What a wonderful shop and wonderful people.

I LOVE Sandon Saddlery!! Never sold anything to them but have spent a very hefty sum each time I've gone there since first going there in January. They leave me to it and then tally up everything when I'm done! I figure I may as well shop till I drop each time I go as it's a 140 mile round trip for me there. I love going there and speaking to Miss Dodd-Noble, I wish it were closer to me as I'd be there everyday. Hmmm, I'm due for a visit soon....

I've been there before but never sold anything!

I'm just wondering if they would accept my two saddles as part payment or exchange (depending on price) for another saddle as need a new one for new pony that is coming?? X

Yes they would def do a swap on saddles, i did one myself!
They also let us have two side saddles (left chqs) on a month trial, no charge, and when we returned one they just gave the chq back.

Lovely people proper old school, i got my first saddle from there, and we took the pony to the shop had it fitted and i walked down the road to try it out!

No its ours you cannot have it!!! Its a little gem! I love the smell!

I am sure you can only ask to Part exchange they are very good.

Quite a few of us think they should make a film about this shop..its like stepping back in time....fabulous real old fashioned knowledgeable horse shop!

Oh dear I have been to Sandon Saddlery today I ended up buying S/H reins and a S/H show jacket for £73 just to get out of the place.

Miss DN was very cunning though as my daughter wanted the jacket and I said it was too expensive but then Miss D N said go and get it to my daughter and I can reduce the price, she knocked off the VAT but it still cost me £57!!

I bought a saddle once and then every week they tried to sell me another....any TV film makers they must go to see them (undercover of course) an experience. I am not suprised you ended up spending. Fantastic place someone I know use to go in there just to get told off!! Fuss and nonsense!

I am sure its being held up by saddles!
