Took Hattie to sands Farm BSJA today to do the 90cm amateur championship 1st round (qualifier for next years 2nd round) and 2-phase. She was fab, the course was nasty, really twisty and turny and pretty much up to height. after a sticky jump into the trebley thing down the middle

, where she REALLY helped me out, she ended up going double clear in a reasonable time - 42.50secs although i didnt go any faster in the J/O than in the first round as the ground in there as everyone said in an earlier post is not fantastic
crazy.gif
. Ended up coming 6th

and qualifying for the 2007 2nd round

totally unexpected!! and so pleased with her

Then as we had primarily come for the 90cm am. champ 2nd round we had somehow qualified for earlier this year
wink.gif
, we entered for that too which was the next class, she warmed up nicely, and i was really hoping for a bit more "bounce" out of her as the fences (well most of them) were a good 1m and she had been pretty hard work in the first class. After being really nappy going into the arena, the adrenaline from napping (and getting a whack while she was napping - hoping for some forward motion
blush.gif
) she sprung into the arena and proceded to cruise her way round the course and jump a perfect clear round. After two such good round, and having jumped her no bigger than 1m before, I decided to call it a day and retired before the J/O as i wanted to keep it a positive experience for her and still only being 5, she was getting tired and there were about 16 horses in the jump off and we would never have matched their pace it seemed pointless to jump again
blush.gif
also the J/O was going up to 1.10m in places and i have never jumped that at home on her let alone in a competition environment in a J/O im just not ready for that on her yet although i know she would have given it her best shot.

So a good day was definitely had, a very positive experience and our 2nd winnings in two weeks

sorry that was really long wasnt it!!!!!

i know quite a few of you were opting out of going up to sands today, did any of you go in the end????

Thankyou
smile.gif
When my Mum went to retire us and said it was because it was because it was going up to possibly 1.10m we were told that it was all only 90cm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was already at 1m in the first round!!!!!!!! anyone could see that
blush.gif
shocked.gif
tongue.gif
so we begged to differ and still retired as it was more that just height that made me not jump
wink.gif

Thankyou

Mum and i were talking about that in the car on the way home, and we decided we were 100% happy with the way her dressage is going, 100% happy with the way her showjumping is going and 75% happy with the way her cross country is going - shes fine until you ask her something she isnt totally sure about and at the moment she will opt out of doing it rather than believe me that she can do it - so hopefully we can resolve this next year and we will be well on our way hopefully

wink.gif
!!!!!!! i went through a phase last year of always having 4 faults in the first round
mad.gif
was really annoying, then it suddenly disappeared!!!!! i dont by any stretch of the imagination always to clear
blush.gif
But i go clear in the first round more often than i have a fence down now -lets hope it lasts

wink.gif

smile.gif

how is your gang going???
grin.gif

Well done on the qualification for next year, and for having the b@lls to call it a day in the 2nd round
smile.gif
That tok some doing, and a lot of people (myself included) would have let adrenaline take over
shocked.gif

We decided not to go earlier in the week, although even up to this morning I was thinking 'what if, i could go' lol! As it turned out, when i went up to the yard to see the horses, Bo had a massive swelling on his o/s front tendon which really doesn't look good, so we wouldn't have been going anyway
frown.gif
Dunno what he's done, but perhas wrenched it in the field or something
crazy.gif
Hoping he's gonna be better by next weekend now...

Thankies Helen.

Rambo really hope Bo is ok

smile.gif
fingers and toes crossed and hopefully its only minor i wouldnt wish it on anyone to have a horse out of action for months
frown.gif

As it happens if you had gone, you probably would have done really well, there was only 24 in the 90cm 2nd round, and about the same in the first round i think or maybe several more im not sure, so i expect the other classes were the same, as expected really it wasnt THAT well attended.

Do you really think shes pretty??? she gets called everything under the sun ranging from Baggage to Cow to Moose (well as from 2 minutes ago!!) and VERY VERY rarely called pretty
wink.gif
shes got pretty paces for an elephant which is why we call her the "Delicate Elephant" but hmmm pretty well you'll have to meet her wont you and find out

I look forward to meeting her at some point, though think we will be gracing different BE events next year!?
smirk.gif

I think she is really good looking mare, I love white faces on big mares, and she's got a lovely head so think it suits her!
smile.gif
But then I have a cow pony...
tongue.gif
grin.gif

yes unfortunately i think im much further south than you are
frown.gif
oh well you never know
wink.gif
smile.gif

Theres no doubt about it she does have something about her, just everytime i look at her i think
"the elephant is a dainty bird..." !!!!!!!!!!!!

blush.gif
makes me laugh everytime!!!
wink.gif
her head is tiny!, shes a full up 16hher and her head is a small cob size bridle!!!!!!!!
shocked.gif
blush.gif
its the white face that is the optical illusion i think
wink.gif
anyway your boy is gorgeous so i think we should start the "Cow Clan"
grin.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif

Really?! Doesnt look like she has a strangly small head!? Must be an illusion.... always have liked chestnuts with lots of white, but then I like bays with lots of white too....
tongue.gif
And apparently always like horses with dinky heads too... means they have some sort of pony intelligence in my book!
