So I am STILL waiting on my saddler to come and fit my saddle so in the meantime me and Sandy have taken up bareback riding! Anyway since he was only broke in September Sandy still has his (adorable) quirks, one of which is a fear of mounting blocks! Doesn't help that the one in the main arena is bright green! Anyway I usually get on him from the ground as I never get on in the arenas, I usually mount up outside my stable and ride in (as I am lazy and will avoid walking at all costs! :D But obviously no stirrups= unflattering scuttle onto back.
So yeah, there was three people riding in the arena, one of them a new girl on her VERY tense and highly strung TB. So in marches me and Sandy the Apache, he stands politely by the mounting block and doesn't try to shimmy away from it (shocker!), so really I should have been suspicious then. I then proceed to swing my leg over his back when lo and behold the mounting block appears within his eyeline, therefore sending said Apache pony off into a frenzy! I was fine, I managed to awkwardly land on my feet after dropping off the gap between the mounting block and Apache pony. Thankfully the OH managed to grab hold of Sandy's bridle and although he got dragged a bit Sandy was fine, sadly the same couldn't be said for the poor new liveries TB!! She went SPARE, bucking, screeching and broncing everywhere! I felt awful, I'd not even said 'Hi' to her yet and there was my mischievous pony trying to get her killed!

Needless to say there were many red-faced apologies to be had! I was also still trying to salvage some of my air of experienced and professional dressage riderism whilst riding a perlino goat-like pony without a saddle or noseband (new bridle and the buckles were stiff so just took it off!) who spent 30 minutes jogging round happily and trying to launch us both over the fantastically appealing cross pole jump!
Bad Sandy pony!
