Well there are always loads of reports in Comp Riders so I figured I could put one in here :p

It was mum and dad's local fete last saturday so we popped down with the doggies :) Sandy was a bit confused at first but she was quite happy to watch everything that was going on and after a while she relaxed and was happy to receive cuddles from new people :)

They had a dog show and we decided to put the dogs in. Last year it was a really fun, family show but tbh this year it was a bit 'off' :( The judge was a professional terrier judge so if there was a terrier in the class it was placed

First class was prettiest bitch - Sandy refused to look at the judge preferring to glare laser beams of death at me (I think she knew I entered her :o ). Terriers were placed 1st - 4th with a terrier cross coming 5th (special).

Second class was Best 6 Legs - I entered mum and Sandy coz between them theyve got 6 knackered ones ;) but as mum walks with a stick the judge wanted her disqualified  Organiser talked her out of it tho and judge eventually gave them a special rossette for 'trying'.

Last class (there were others in between obv) was best veteran which we stuck them both in. V odd experience! Lady next to me said her dog was 12, lady next to her said hers was 8 - when the judge commented how identical they were they said they were littermates  The winner (a terrier  ) was apparantly 16 but I used to walk it when it was a puppy in 2000.... Judge refused to believe Yellow Dog was 8 then refused to believe he was a labrador and asked to see his papers  I dont even know where they are let alone take them to a village fete :D

Sadly there was no ice cream van  so no ice cream for the doggies but they shared half a scone each in stead :D

What on earth did he think Yellow Dog was if not a lab then! I hate it when judges are like that at fun shows, and sadly many of them seem to think they are in the big ring at Crufts, as do some of the exhibitors. Can't believe he wanted your mum disqualified because of the stick, perhaps she should have used it on him!
Have to say they don't look too impressed with their rosettes, obviously they felt it was a fix. Its lovely to see Sandy looking so well and enjoying life.:)

Why are they called fun shows when they clearly are anything but. I would be gutted if I was you at a blatent bias in favour of terriers. The pics are lovely by the way and if I was judging you would have done a lot better.:)

Dont be put off I think Bettyboo had a similar experience with Biscuit and you have to say its time some of these judges had theireyes tested.

Aw, well you know you are taking the best dogs home with you!
Maybe the littermates were from a repeat mating :p

I was at an open day/fun show at the weekend and you could tell the moment the battleaxe judge walked in that she wasn't going to be a GSD person :p and then puppy got bored and started BARKING because he wanted SWEETIES because he'd been SITTING and LOOKING AT ME for AGES :p plus he also got bitten twice - saved by his ear fuzz!!!

I think I posted on here last month about the poodle owner who stormed out of the ring at a fun show because her dog was being distracted by my daughter at the ringside with Pickle in her arms.
I have told daughter she should enter Pickle in the non sporting class at a fun show when he is old enough and see if the judge tells her she can't show a cross breed in the pedigree classes.:p

Ets. CC I have learned that it is never a good idea to show a GSD under an allrounder judge with a long linked collar clipped onto the deadlink!

Poor Yellow Dog kept being called a girl with his pink rossette

Last year it was lovely - judges were a vet nurse and a friend of the organiser and they were very much into the spirit of things. Don't think this lady will be asked back tho!

I like Yellow Dog distracted when hes in the ring. Ths is mostly coz I enter him in waggiest tail and the more distracted he is the more his tail waggles :D

I've a similar experience where the judge refused to look at Biscuit because he was a rescue (we got a different coloured sticker to everyone else) which was really annoying as I paid the same entry fee as everyone else
