Have always been with D&H, but I have recently been hearing some positive things about saracens horse feeds, they seem to do a more varied range particularly for the performance horses.

Just wandering if anyone had and thoughts, good or bad be it about cost, results, products honestly any thoughts welcome. Equally if you are a D&H faithful any thoughts on them welcome.

p.s. i know its a bit of a random post, sitting in front of master chef with the laptop and have been googleing.

I love their feeds :D

We use, for different horses :D :

Releave - for stressy DWB and going to use it for stressy IDxTB :D
Equijewel - for weight gain for the two neds above.
Shape Up - the the good-doer Little Cob, who is prone tying up (has natural selenium and Vit E :D).

love them :D I use enduro 100 for my tb and it is by far the best feed for him - shiny, well covered and controllable long lasting energy and also randomly their micronised barley really agrees with him where as some of the others seem to have too much poke in it :)

Saracen is a national brand name ,but at heart they are really the Attlee /Lillico group . The local feed mills I have known and trusted for the best part of half a century. They have linked with Kentucky Equine and offer a very good range of quality products. (PS, can I have a discount on my next bag of Equijewell ,for this unsolicited endorsement:D)

And if you need any advice ,go and see caroline down at the mill office ,(not the "hoofpicks and headcollars shop"). She is a mine of good information and can be trusted not to "sell".

brilliant thank you. May well do that, was going to ring about visit from a nutrionist but that would be brill thanks.

To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much about being loyal to one particular 'brand', but just compare the different individual feeds and find out which one is best for your horse's specific needs. What are you feeding your horse currently and what feed are you planning to swap to? And if you have several horses then nothing wrong with using D&H for some and Saracen for others if that is what suits each horse best.

I have one of my older boys on Saracen Biolife 2000. The difference that this balancer has made over the past three months is immense! I do add in some brewers yeast (which I probably don't need now), but other than this he has veteran chaff and some speedi-beet.

He looks and feels amazing - has got so much controllable energy and seems better in himself this year than I can remember!

I really do rate this product and will keep him on this now.
