I have been using sarc- ex with a picky feeder with multiple sarcoids. He has had many removed, but grew more and rewoke one on his face when he was stressed by being taken to camp. Apparently this is common and can happen years after people thought they were gone.

First off, the picky eater loves it.

Second, the ones he had before have healed completely differently, and very quickly compared to the first time. The one on his face is only half the size, a different shape and has now grown hair where it has been bald for over nine months.

In addition, a patch all around the sarcoid site went moth eaten in appearance and I'm guessing this is where the virus was killed off and took a few hairs with it when it died

Whether this is likely to be a cure or not, I can't say, but it is absolutely certain that something changed big time at the time I started him on the sarc-ex.

I hope anyone with a sarcoid horse finds this information helpful. I have no connection to the company and I was totally sceptical that it would achieve anything.

Interesting, thank you for the feedback, because I know you are really experienced with sarcoids.

How long has he been on the supplement?

Six weeks.

I am most stunned by the hair coming back, and then by the speed of healing. I have five kilos and he will be given it all and then fingers crossed.

I'm not home right now, but when I get back I'll post pictures of his face all healed up before, and all healed up now, so you can see the difference.

If it isn't the sarc- ex it's an almighty coincidence.

Thank you, if it isn't coincidence that is mighty quick, very impressed as others have reported much longer times for a result.

Are you still treating them topically as well? We have a mare with what I think is a flat sarcoid at the top of her neck. The Vet has been out and taken pictures several weeks ago, they still have had no answer from Liverpool University whether it is or not, quite poor really.

Tbh I won't be using Liverpool cream if it is as I think it is too near the head and could very well make her headshy. So my options would be freezing - which I have had success in the past with, leaving well alone, or something as you have described.

We are lucky in that it does not bother her, nor is it changing, so we have time to make a decision - luckily considering the speed at which it is being dealt with!

My friend swears by Sarc-ex. However it didn't work for a nodular sarcoid which grew bigger and started developing roots during the 2 months my horse was on it. Liverpool cream did the job and the horse didn't have any problems with pain during the treatment. With hindsight I wished I had gone the cream route sooner as the sarcoid grew such a lot while he was on the sarc-ex.

I treated them all with copper sulphate as well, starting about a week before the sarc- ex. The copper sulphate is my normal way of removing them and the removal was normal. The healing was not normal for this horse with new sarcoids, this horse with regrown sarcoids or other horses. It was much quicker with smaller scars.

I would not leave a changing sarcoid, I always take them off. In my case, the sarc- ex is additional, to prevent recurrence for a second time in a horse very prone to them and triggered by stress. All types of treatment can result in recurrence, especially in horses which are stress heads, as this one is. The theory is that the dormant virus is activated by the stress hormones. I'm especially interested in the moth eaten patch on my horses face, where it looks as though clumps of two or three hair roots with the virus in over the area of a ten pence piece have been rejected by his immune system. I'm still waiting to see if that hair regrows.

Turmeric is in Sarc ex for any one that has not seen it THE TURMERIC USER GROUP on facebook has a lot of info on sarcoids.
The site was started by a vet Doug English .
Well worth a look.

I don't think there is any turmeric in it, unless it's called something very different in the current list of herbs in sarc- ex. There are eight other ayurvedic medical herbs in it though. Several of them have clinical trials for immune support, inflammation reduction and/or tumour suppression.

Sarc ex has creatine in it, it is a banned substance under FEI rules and is used to treat cancer in India. It is a plant. Smells of curcumin too but couldn't find that on the ingredients. Like you I found it worked well for an established flat sarcoid that couldn't be removed as it had attached to the trimegial nerve. It was stable for three years but caused severe head shaking and then it started to grow so gave him Sarc ex ( had to do something) it stopped growing in two weeks and fell off in three months, kept it up for six months and it has been clear for three years. Hair grew back very quickly , you can't see where it was, he has grown no more and the head shaking has stopped completely. I do know someone wo used it for nodular ones, it took over six months but they shrunk and fell out at the root. That horse did not grow any more either.

Creatine isn't listed in the current version, but I guess it could be in one of the herbs. They have changed the contents a lot over the years. I've been away three days and the one on his face is growing even more hair and the bald scar is also shrinking fast. I really couldn't be happier, except that the stress head was so upset by not seeing me that he would not eat yesterday, so he missed it :(

I made a mistake with the name ,the skin tonic with turmeric is called SAR X.

Have just checked the website and it is listed as Creat, creatine is the FEI banned substance but it is the same plant. One is probably an extract of the plant. The other herbs are also listed under ingredients. I used it four years ago but the ingredients look the same to me.

The ingredients in my in-date tub aren't the same as currently listed on their website but I don't care seeing how it's working!!
