Just wanted to see if anyone else has used Global Herbs Sarc Ex and what their experience was...my horse has been on it for a couple of weeks now. He has 1 little sarcoid in his front armpit, and 1 big weird one (soft and mushroom-like) on his umbilicus with a couple of other nodular ones around his belly and sheath. I'm also slapping sudocrem on them all as it seems to be the best thing for keeping flies off, and might also do some good too!

So far - the big weird one has shed a layer of crusty skin, and whilst it hasn't really changed size it's now pinker rather than crusty grey. I'm keeping a close eye on it as if it ulcerates or bleeds I'll get the vet out straight away! The bigger nodular one on his belly has become a bit longer/pointier so I'm hoping its starting to drop off but we'll see.

Can anyone give any experiences of what sarcoids do when treated with Sarc-Ex? What do they look like/how do they change before they go? Do the nodular ones get worse before dropping off?

He is insured so if they get worse I'll get the vet straight out, but as he's a sensitive 3 year old with only a recently acquired trust of humans, I'd rather try and treat it internally first.

Never used sarc ex before personally but like with every product I have heard mixed reviews on it, it works well on some horses and not at all on others. Rather than putting on sudocrem I would get some thuja cream to put on them, always found it great for sarcoids and acts as a barrier against the flies! (:

I used it for several months. And it worked!!! Mine had two on his chest (quite big), one on his sheath and two under his tummy. All dropped off.

However, had I have used my head I would have also put him on Immuplus at the same time as it did speed it all up.

Great! How long before you noticed a change? And what did the sarcoids do before dropping off? I'll look up Immuplus...
Thanks!

I tried Thuja tablets but not the cream - where did you get it from? I didn't realise it could be a fly barrier too - just been using sudocrem as it's the only thing thick enough that I could find!

Hey I got the cream off the viovet website, I think was 8.99 including next day delivery. It's working really well, I apply it twice a day and it stays on pretty much all day, it sort of goes solid over the sarcoid, keeps the flies off pretty nicely, whilst shrinking the sarcoid! (: plus it's lasting ages!

It took ages - sorry!! The ones under his tummy went first and then the ones on his chest and finally the one on his sheath.

I tried Thuja prior to Sarc - Ex, but it didn't work for us. I would think if they are not weeping, just leave them be - the flies won't get on them provided they are not open.

I think sarcoids are as a result of a poor immune system. The immuplus boosts the immune system enabling them to fight the sarcoids better.

My lad had had three or four homes within a year, so I expect he was feeling a bit low.

Oh, and the ones on his chest got smaller and then disappeared but the one on his sheath was there one day and the next time I checked - it was gone!!

I think it's just about finding what works for your horse (: and yes to the above, always good to use something to boost the immune system especially in younger or older horses!(:
