Ok, this is PF's lump a few days ago when vet went to check her over and had a look... She said it wasn't suitable for banding as it's on a vein, and that we should just keep an eye on it for further changes.

Last night it looked exactly the same, but this morning I arrived at yard to find this; the skin had split and slipped back a bit

Called vet who told me to clean and dress with antiseptic spray
On cleaning the skin moved off the lump. It was quite loose and the lump is like a ball of .. I don't know... bloody tissue (ick)

In this pic, where the lump has been sprayed, you can really see how the lump is sort of squeezing out and the skin is wrinkling back...

Not particularly painful- she's a bit of a drama queen anyway, but she allowed me to clean it up with the usual amount of fuss. I live in Argentina, which makes getting bloodroot ointment a bit difficult. Vet has suggested using copper sulphate but that was before I emailed her the pics. She's not got back to me yet.

Cloud had one like that just behind her teats. It looked like a bollock before I started treating it. Once I started to treat it, it just got smaller and smaller and then disappeared completely and she was left with a little sack with nothing in it. Eventually this "sack" shrunk back to normal and can't be seen any longer. Cloud's didn't erupt like PFs one.

Interesting and glad you take piccies, I always do too.

Yes I used Camrosa on hers. It did take a fair while to go though. I was probably using Camrosa on it 3 or 4 time a week for 6 or 7 months, but during this time I did see it decreasing in size every so often, so it didn't just one day disappear. Her's didn't get bigger at any point, just the usual swelling around the area with the Camrosa on it, but that was only in the intial few days of applying it. I've found that initial swelling is a normal occurance of using Camrosa.

I'm sure Camrosa won't work on every horse though - it isn't any different from other forms of treatment; sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I've just been lucky I guess in that it has always worked with the ones I've used it on.

It looks like it has ulcerated. It may drop off on its own.

Camrosa did not work with my horse either. What about Liverpool cream if your vet can get it?

Global herbs do a supplement and cream that my friend uses on her mare who is prone to sarcoids, she get none of the discharge the sarcoid just opens up then after a couple of days it pops out and then slowly closes up and disappears. She has tried the bands and the Livepool ointment but finds that the global herbs works the best.

Sarc-X and Sarc-X Cream.

Well, the last time I used Camrosa on another mare who had a sarcoid in the corner of her eye it did take a while but it didn't get any bigger and once it started working it was very noticeable. YO's wife speculated that the lump tissue might be sort of mutated udder tissue, if you see what I mean, which would explain the swelling with pregnancy (and boobies). Vet is coming next week to see for herself. She says to just clean for now.

Yes, I thought it looked like it wanted to drop off. Vet doesn't think so

Will they deliver to Argentina?

I've ordered Thuja cream and pills, and vet has suggested putting copper sulphate on the lump. We'll decide properly when she sees it in person next week (have emailed pics)

Pickle had 1 just like this behind her teats (looked even more like a bollock!). It split like this & dropped out. Vet's advice was to clean very gently with hibiscrub & leave alone as much as possible.

My mare (now deseased) had something VERY similar and in almos the same place. I called the vet who had a feel of it and the middle came out as a lump in his hand!!! He washed out the hole and dressed with antiseptic spray. The skin schrivelled back, left a tiny scar and never returned.

Might be worth seeing if it will come away with a gentle feel. I don't mean squeeze the heck out of it!

In fact the more I look at pic 5 (with the dripping blood) the more convinced I am it is the same as my mare.

She had nodular sarcoids on her inner thighs too. The vet would pop them out by nicking the skin with a scalpel, before they got so big that they would rub.

My horse has one of these on her side. It did the exact same thing, started bleeding, the skin slipped back. It was caused by the flies eating it. I put a fly rug on her and it healed back over. Last year it didn't flare up this year it did - but only for about a month.

The vet was up the yard and he had a look at it, when it was bleeding, and said it is what used to be known as an 'Angleberry' and he tried to pop it out with his fingers, but it was still a bit too attached so he stopped.
