Mare had some sarcoids lasered off last week, this was planned so I have left her woolly (unclipped) in anticipation.

She has a lot of wounds on her udder area etc which are no real bother, but three on her neck & chest that will interfere with rugs and her girth. I know they heal really quickly but I was wondering if anyone could think of how to stop a rug knocking the scabs off ? Will post pictures of her week-old wounds later this afternoon but TIA for anyone with bright ideas. It's going to be cooler next week so I'm trying to plan how to keep her out in the day time but comfortable. The main culprit is right where the top buckle would go.

That's my default position and no problem, thanks, just wondered if there were any bright ideas coming along that's all. You know, stuff I hadn't considered.

When my old boy had one on his face which his headcollar touched, I sewed some (fake) sheepskin from an old girth cover to the inside of the headcollar. Bridle wasn't a problem as just used without a noseband.

I have no idea whether this could be done with a rug but if the weather suddenly turns Baltic you could try it. However, I agree that no rugs is best unless she is desperate.
