I bought a lovely coloured cob for my daughter... she's a beautiful mare who has turned out to be a mothers dream to ride and handle.
I bought her three months ago, for a bargain price.. when I got her home off the trailer we noticed a small bump on her lower lid.. I hadnt noticed it before, so assumed she had bumped it during her long journey home.
It's still there.. its about 5mm wide, 5mm high and a smooth surface. I havent called the vet out, simply because it does affect her in any way, and hasnt grown.. I thought I could point it out during a routine visit.
So my blacksmith (yes I know may not be the best to ask).. has suggested it may be a sarcoid.
If this turns out to be correct.. is the current treatment effective? Is it possible that it will just remain the same size? and should I get the vet out sooner rather than later? Thankyou in advance for your help x

Agree with Goldenstar.

Hopefully you have insurance, as a new treatment for sarcoids around eyes has been developed (Prof Knottenbelt (sp) at Liverpool), but its not cheap.

Agree with seek vet advice sooner rather than later. My boy had one above his eye and three tiny ones below the other, there are a few options depending on type but get your vet to refer it to Prof K - not all the treatments are scary expensive so don't panic!

I've had 2 treatments for his (both sperate) once cost £5k and one was £100 - both covered by insurance :)
