Hi all,

A little background. Have owned my horse since 8 months old, she has, as far as I can remember had a little sort of smooth round hair covered non worrisome blob just on her tummy/stifle bit of skin.
It has never been a problem until around April and it burst and looked like this

In proportion to her body, not very big!

It isn't sore, it doesn't bother her, you can pull it away from her tummy, it's almost just part of her skin?!

A few days later

I had the vet out last Saturday for sedation and asked her opinion on it, she said its most likely a sarcoid, I asked about ringing it she suggested not to as it may leave a nasty scar or reopen due to where it is. well the next day after she'd had a little play with it, it looked like this

and today, Ive washed it with warm salt water, dried it and put Aloe vera gelly on it which Ive been doing this week. But I think she would be better off with Purple spray to dry it rather than keeping it wet?!

She started on Global Herbs Sarc-ex last Sunday (30/06/13) with Restore liquid which is supposed to give very good results ( recommended by my vet on the Saturday!)

Im going to give the global herbs a good go before I try anything else, But just wondering what everyone else thinks?! Oh she is covered in fly spray and her fly rug which I think is rubbing it a bit which is why its looking a little gross.....

Thanks for looking even if you don't reply!

Yes most definitely is a sarcoid. I would be asking vet to send pics to Liverpool for Knottenbelts opinion. Its a small referral fee and worth the experts opinion. Personally I would be treating

That looks exactly like the one my old mare had between her forelegs in from of her girth. We contacted dr Knottenbelt but it miraculously disappeared before we treated it, with only Terramycin and flyspray - flies were the worst part of it as it would weep and ooze.

When I say my old mare, she was actually only 5 when she had it, I just don't have her any more. And it was agreed by Dr Knottenbelt that it was a fibroblastic sarcoid - he was very helpful and it was when the cream first came out, around 10 yrs ago.

Yes , that looks very much like the one my boy had on his sheath, which got to the size of a plum!
I tried the sarc ex for nearly a year and various homeopathic remedies, did not shift it! As a last resort before going the liverpool cream route I used crest toothpaste on it, slapped it on for two weeks, which also kept the flies away and it shrivelled up and dropped off!

Sarcoid....it looks pretty aggressive, you might be lucky enough that it'll pop out all by itself (seen this happen to this type of sarcoid a good few times). Keep the flies off it and just wait a little...if no joy, vets and Liverpool cream.x

Agree with everyone else, definitely a sarcoid and I would be concerned by the relatively rapid growth. Don't put any more Aloe Vera on it as this is contra-indicated for sarcoids as it stimulates cell growth. The Liverpool site has lots of info, I would get one of that type treated sooner rather than later personally.
