My horse is about to start treatment for his sarcoids & I was wondering how much this will cost? I know it will vary with different horses. Just want to prepare myself. Here's a photo of his. Its on his ear.
It was like this about 6 weeks ago

I claimed on my insurance as it was supposed to be about £500. My boys sarcoid was the occult sort (flat) and the liverpool cream did the trick really well.

Bugger, seems I've been had then! I've had to pay £250 upfront for each pot (diff strengths) of liverpool cream! In the end it took them so long to get themselves sorted that the sarcoid had changed alot and the vet no longer recommended liverpool cream for it! Was bigger than ops by quite alot so don't worry that the same will happen in your case. If you have insurance then def best to go that route as the cost of the cream plus visits for application can add up.

This is exactly how a sarcoid looked on my horse (it was behind the girth area) started small and then got bigger, we fed her on wendals melanix for a few months it popped like yours seems to of done and it then fell off and shes never had another one since in 8 years.
My sister also used melanix on her horse who had 3 sarcoids and they soon disappeared too and have not returned. this was over a matter of 6 weeks so it depends how much it is upsetting your horse as the liverpool cream works very quickly but comes with a heafty price tag.
It may be worth a try though...

I used echinacea capsules with both my horses, and they worked wonders. Sarcoids have gone and not returned, its been five years.

My boy had a sarcoid on his hind leg, the vet used a band around it as well as the liverpool cream and it went really quickly and has never come back. It cost about £300 in total with vet callouts as the vet had to come and put the cream on as he said it is very strong cream. But very pleased with vet and the results.

Il update on price once I get quotes from vet my boy has 1 that we are going to treat. Around £100+ plus call out as only vet can administer and they wont send it in bulk to vet either apparently. At least three treatments required. My insurance shold cover it but Id pay if they didn't just to be safe.
Good luck with yours though

I used camrosa on my mares ones, she had a flat one on her tummy and a bulging one on one of her mammaries (!!), they cleared in a few months and have never come back. From what i remember it costs about 100 pounds and as i had loads of ointment left i used it on cuts when needed. My friend also used camrosa on her horses feet and the change was incredible!

We got rid of them with blood root ointment from the vet it was £120 for a small pot, we rubbed it on every day for a week, and within a month it had shrivelled up and dropped off.

this^^. i have seen red angry ones like this drop off with blood root ointment, the creams arn't for the faint hearted. they are extremley strong and agressive.

Please only use the Liverpool cream as a final resort. I have seen how much pain in cause to a horse with facial sarcoids and I advise anyone to try everything else before the liverpool cream. Although its effectiveness can not be denied.

Lou x

My pony had the start of sarcoids above his eye, I have been using Global Herbs sarc-ex for a week and it has almost gone already, Im really impressed....
..I thought 27 pounds for the tub was expensive... seems I am a little one the stingy side!

Bloodroot treatment is fantastic stuff. My vet sells it by the quarter pot which is more than enough to treat one sarcoid, and it cost me £35 :D Made the horse a bit sore, but he soon got over it, and the whole treatment took about 2 weeks. He never had it return and had no scaring :)

The first vet that had a look wanted to cut sarcoid out, but I had read somewhere that cutting it out could possibly make them come back more aggressive if all the cells aren't removed. The second vet has recommend the liverpool cream. So i'm waiting for them to get back to me & say how much & when to start treatment. I never heard of bloodroot cream. I am kind of hoping that it will just drop off & never be seen again but dont thin thats going to happen.

well chippies sarcoid treatment is currently on £3.3k !!
thats three (sets of) treatment with liverpool cream and an operation under general anesthetic to remove one on his willy.
but he had about 20 from his groin to his chin at one point, three different variaties so hes a fairly extreme case.

I used black treacle from tescos from around £1.50 for a month :-)
Completely gone, and hasn't shown any sign of coming back for 4 months.
Looked just like your one!
No vet involved! :-)
Got recommend it, thought it can't cause any more harm and very cheap!
Worked a treat.. Don't expect it will work on kinds, but no harm in trying! And pain free! Just messy! Esp on a grey like mine lol

what amazes me is the vets dont realy seem to know the exact cause of sarcoids..
I know different people who have used chinese medicine, camarosa, the vet to band, liverpool cream and global herbs sarc ex all seem to work with varying results the banding seemed to make things worse on one horse and now is on sarc ex and showing good results, another person used a chinese herbalist who gave a powder for the feed and that seems to have worked and another person I was talking to had used the camarosa on her cob and had a good result, quite a few people belive it's a bovine virus that is transmitted by flys but how you keep flys off completly with the useless products on the market??? as there isnt one that realy seems to work 100% ...

Nadia has a couple on her hind legs. The vet and I decided to leave them be as they were not causing any problem. During the summer I used Camrosa and found that it got smaller but stopped using it. This reminds me actually that I'll have to start using it again.

George had one on his belly about the size of a 20p piece, after photos between my vet and Liverpool Uni, it was decided the Liverpool cream would be best. He had 4 applications initially but had to have 2 more as George seemed to be rather thick skinned :D he didn't need bute and never seemed to be in any pain, he was never bothered when the vet reapplied the cream. Although I gave him 10 days off whilst he was having the treatment just in case.

I had to be careful not to touch the cream after as it's pretty strong stuff. The sarcoid slowly shrank in size and then disappeared, he just has a small hairless patch of skin now.

I think the bill came to about £400 including all 6 call-outs and my insurance company paid (NFU) without any quibble. :)

Please read this before using Camrosa, it promotes cell growth and can make things far worse, it used to be promoted for sarcoid treatment but this has now been withdrawn
http://www.liv.ac.uk/sarcoids/treatment/index.htm

I did not see anything about Camsrosa, was it all treatments other than the ones they are promoting that they are saying to be wary about? When you order Camrosa you have to send pics of the area you want to treat, they then give advice on how to treat it. They seemed quite an ethical bunch there and you cant just buy it willy nilly.
